My name is Jim, and I'm an addict.

While dry fitting my new doubler today, I realized it.

Over the last 3 years I have wrapped up more $$ in the as yet non driving, interior-less, bumper-less hunk of FSJ than mine and my wife's DD both ('89 c1500 + '91 Grand Marquis) have cost us since buying them, INCLUDING their purchase. (hey, we all got to have priorities, right?)

On the up side, the only things left to make it drive are
    1) trans rebuild and
    2) driveshafts.

Still a lot to do before I can put some miles/trails under it, but at least it will be drivable as far as around the driveway/farm/garage to work on it.
At that point, progress should start to pick up speed somewhat, finally.

My name is Jim, and I am a FSJ addict.

Hi Jim. My name is Andy, and I am an addict. I was coming home today from the car wash fundraiser to support my eagle project and exhausted like i haven't felt in a long time. I climbed in my Jeep, put on some good country music, started yelling out the lyrics, and got a giant smile on my face. Even though my Jeep smells like raw gas when it idles and the 258 lacks power in town and on the freeway, it felt amazing and definitely made me forget i was exhausted.

        This is therapy, right?

Nice work Jim. Soon enough it will be driving again. keep it up!

Isn't that funny about us FSJ'ers....we love things that no one understands....we slam on the brakes when we see a glimps of the back end of a unknown to us FSJ....we drool over the keyboard about pictures them every night....we'll buy and make deals on parts we find on-line even though we're no where close that point yet....we buy a new project FSJ even though we're not finished with the first one yet....we save all year to make a pilgrimage to Ouray to be with others of our kind.

Yep.....My names Jason, yes its a cult, and I'm a proud member of it.

Hi Jim, I'm Martin. It has been three whole days since I have gotten dirt under my nails from pulling a transmission from a non working FSJ to repair my own. I am at my wits end because i have not seen mine in a week and I am feeling weak.

I must admit I too am an adict and hope never to recover ( but always hoping my wallet will).

Actually my exhaust isn't leaking that bad, just a few pinholes in the welds i made connecting the cat to a segment that then connects to the muffler. and there were some places where my cuts didn't come out straight so i had to bridge a couple good 1/4" gaps, so i'm not surprised.

I think a FSJ of it more like a plastic model when we were kids.

                            > They were mesmerizing to look at- the perfect picture on the box
                            > They took a lot of time and patience to build
                            > Sometimes we got high from the glue fumes or paint - and liked it
                            > They never turned out how they looked on the box cover,
                            but we did not care.
                            > Could never figure out the best color to paint it
                            > Was always short on glue and paint
                            > Always had extra parts that we did not know where they went.
                            > Were always happy when we were building them...
                            especially with friends.

AND When it was completed someone smashed it, if not us first.. and we started over again with the same dream.
