Add another to herd....1978 J-10 build

Do any of you remember my buddies truck.....

85,000 original miles and a true factory granny T-18 and 4:10's . Reverse is up and to the right.

Well he just couldn't put the wife any more and I sure wasn't going to let him sell it to anyone else. So now I add another fine example to my heard.

I think you have a disease!
But a good disease though in my opinion.

Plans for it are make it a J20, of which I have the matching 4:10 axles to do it, bolt on the rims and tires from my red and white one, switch the front bumper out to a chrome one which I also have, and just drive it. I might plan put a plow mount on it so that I could use it as a back-up truck. But I really just want to drive it and save the in-town miles on my Dodge diesel.

This truck makes lucky number 7, hope it's a lucky one.

So here's the plan with this one, as if I needed another project :

I just ordered a Tad shackle flip kit for he rear. For the front I plan on using the 6" lift springs off the front of my 88'GW. Since the GW is going to have a Chevy D60 under in a SOA configuration I will have the springs available.

I'm shooting for a close look-a-like to this one...

As far as the rims and tires, I plan to go with these 16.5 X 9.75 slot mags that I found for $20.00 dollars for all four!!!

I plan to have a set of inserts made that change the slot to standard acorn style lug. I love the old school polished mag rims look on a classic truck!

I know it's a picture of a Chevy but it very cool either way.

And I'm shooting for enough clearance for 37" Military Goodyear OZ MT's from 100 dollar man.

http://www.100dollarman.com/tires.html

We'll see how it goes....

I'm installing the one out of my big CJ. I was going to put it under the Cherokee but the focus I have for that one is like the Bargain Beater project, simple and stock looking.

My plans changed since I saw that 4-door wide track at FSJ Ouray this year I really like it!! The Diesel will go into it as well and I plan to make it into a vehicle that can go as many places as the wifes Grand Cherokee.
