What Header are you using? Do you like it if not what would you recomend for an amc360 with an np435 behind it? What horsepower and torque did it give you? Any Gas Mileage improvements?
Which Header?

Years ago, I had to replace the headers on my drag car ( '71 Ply Road Runner / 440) in a hurry due to a loading-it-on-the-trailer incident. I had some fairly decent hooker 2" primary headers/4" collector headers, but the only thing I could get in time was 1.75" /3.5" Dynomax Black Jack el-cheapos. They are probably exactly like Hedmans. Well, they made zero, zilch, nada difference in my 60' foot time, ET, or trap speed. And this is on a 550 hp engine. So, on most engines I don't think the "better" headers will really make a difference at all.
My concern, through experience, with 4x headers is rust through. That may not be a concern where you are, but I would recommend some sort of coated header for longevity. When I had headers on my 2A with a swapped in 225, I replaced them about every other year. Luckily they were easy. But the rust problem also occured on a 78 w150 and a CJ5.
Just my 2 cents.

EDELBROCK SHORTIES
I LIKE THE EDELBROCK SHORTIES AND I HAD MINE JET HOT COATED FOR LONG LASTING USE. I ALSO LIKE THE EDELBROCK TES SYSTEM ON A STOCK TRUCK THAT WILL USE LARGE SINGLE EXHAUST RATHER THAN A DUAL SET UP. MY CURRENT J-20 IS USING THE TES1985 J-20 401 6 inch lift, 37's plow truck. CURRENT PROJECT

Doug Thorleys are far superior headers but it looks likely that they are discontinuing the FSJ Header....www.bjsoffroad.com - BJ's Off-Road - Your Full-Size Jeeps Parts Specialist

i have hedman headers and i don't care for them. they were and are cheap. the flanges started to warp once they would heat up and cool down and i have had to retighten then bolt multipe times. i finally changed over to studs and am hoping that that will help with the problem.03 GMC 2500HD - DD/toy hauler

I am running Thorley headers on mine. (They came with it when I bought it.) I love the sound, and have never had a "lack" of power. Don't really have anything to base it off since they were always there. They do get pretty hot (ask Casey). The only issue I had, was the dum-dum who put them in did not tighten the header bolts good and I eventually was down to about 5 or so (total for both headers). Once I changed the blown header gaskets and replaced the missing bolts, my exhaust leak went away and never looked back since.Joey

thorley headers - $550 - $800
headman - $150
thorley headers might be nice but for $600 more, they could be gold plated i wouldn't pay that much more for what maybe 5 extra ponies and 1 mpg if any at all.
i wish i had money like yall(yous guys-for the yanks) i would invest it in somthing that makes a diference.
hmm.... i can get a detroit locker and a set of hedmans for what you pay for crome!78 Cherokee WT

I dont think it is +/- a couple ponies that make people spend a few extra bucks on headers. My Hedmans leak pretty bad. They need tightening a lot more than they should. I finally got some of the crushable metal gaskets, and its not as bad, but it still leaks. I'd rather have a set of stock manifolds than my Hedmans. Im looking into getting some Thorleys now. And hopefully I can before they stop selling them.

Just kidding man, I don't even know you, I don't think. Unless you are Jared, then I do know you. Anyhow, I understand completely. I wouldn't have paid the money for them, but they came with the rig.Joey

Also, they should be for sale for $450 and that includes the Y-pipe, this is why Thorleys cost more. You get what you pay for.www.bjsoffroad.com - BJ's Off-Road - Your Full-Size Jeeps Parts Specialist
