Instrument Cluster Modification

Contributed By: Brian Colucci

Greetings to the FSJ World!

To refresh your memories the USS GW is an 89; and anybody who has an 89-91 knows the problem of removing the dash bezel. It is flimsy plastic and held in place with clips that just as well should be rivets. I was always afraid that I was going to break the bezel attempting to get it away from the from the dash.

Solution! Velcro; just pop off the metal clips. Do not remove the plastic finger that they are on. It makes a nice guide. Then clean the back of the bezel and the mating surface on the dash with rubbing alcohol. Next cut thin strips of Velcro to fit in several key locations on the bezel and the dash. Patients and accuracy pay off. Replace the bezel.

Now when I need to access something like the heater controls or the speedo. I can literally rip off my dash bezel.

Until the next dimension
