Adjusting travel out of hydraulic lifter plunger

What are all your thoughts on adjusting travel out of the hydraulic Lifters.

I put together a 360 mode 2 engine with 343 pistons and 79 big chamber heads.

I installed some Harland sharp rockers for bridged heads and was thinking about adjusting travel out of the lifters

        Why ?
It is suggested in the AMC book performance America style For a mode 2 engine.

During long high rpm use the hydraulic lifters can get aerated oil and lose lift.

The lifters I bought have a lot of plunger travel . If I set them up with normal preload . It almost seems like the pushrods could fall out if the lifters oil drained back after sitting over night or a few days on cold start up .

I should have bought better quality low travel hydraulic lifters.

The only reason why not I know of would be if the lifter got pumper up from accidentally floating the valves . The pistons could hit a valve.

What do you consider, Long and Hi RPM use?
Which oil filter are you using? A poor quality oil filter will leak down over night resulting in rattle on start up.

            4000 - 5500 rpm for 30 minutes to an hour .

I have used many different filters.

What are you using this motor in to run at that rpm for an hour?

I would suggest a solid type set up then but pay close attention to your oiling system and temp, that will be a lot of load on the engine at that rpm but if set up right should work.

Yes Baldwin and carquest filters are made by Clarcor. I have even noticed sometimes they don’t even bother to paint them white.

Here are some write ups on it.
I've noticed some threads come up about people having problems posting photo's to the site here. I have always found it pretty easy, but I figure I can show others (with pictures;) )how I do it, and maybe we can get some more pics of some kick ass Jeeps here! Generally, this process should work the same way from other 3rd party
