RIGHT?! It doesn't even have a pignose!! With a pignose, that would be a $200k+ truck!

Someone's definition of "Comprehensive restoration" is far different than mine. Rust on the brake booster, crud all over the dizzy cap, radio stuck in all crooked, shift knob boogers, etc.
It's nice, but not $100k nice IMHO.

Crooked headlight too. And rust stained overflow and washer bottles. And...

            And no brow.

How reliable was the 100k number?

There are a few things wonky here and the biggest one is the 3 pc. bumper in satin black. I see someone has already stole the SS windshield trim. I am calling it Heinz 57.

May as well critique this one too. Similar black bumper and lack of SS windshield trim. There is a theme going here.

That seems just plain crazy to me but I've seen bidders get very carried away at auctions and right now car prices just seem to be insane.

Then there is comparing it to the cost of a new truck that is boring and common. A nice old truck that is different than the boring old Chevy or Ford that are so prevalent might command a premium nowadays.

Or maybe there are just too many people out there with too much money.

I also don't believe everything I see at Mecum or Barret-Jackson. I have a habit of watching Studebaker Hawks, because I really want one, and have seen the same car using the same pictures sell repeatedly with no reserve at both auctions for exceptionally high prices only to show up at the next auction, and the one after that, and the one after that so I take their prices with a grain of salt.

Then there is the method my parents always said they were going to use for their estate, which is all the kids get an equal amount of money and everything goes to auction. If one of us wants something we are required to buy it just like anybody else at the auction. If two of us want the same thing we can bid against each other and the one willing to spend the most gets it. Who knows, maybe Dallas and Ammie's kids were fighting over the trucks and that's why they went so high.

There are a lot of possibilities unknown to us.

You sure the repeat sales weren't reruns?

                        Maybe buyers reneged? Schills?

I can't say why but I've seen it many times with the same cars and trucks on both Mecum and Barret-Jackson and as a result feel you cannot take their realized prices as gospel.
