1979 Wagoneer Brougham 2 tone blue restore

This Wagoneer was purchase new in late 1979 by my father. He passed in 1993 and sat in a field in north central Nebraska in the Sandhills. I picked it up in 2014 and started restoring. During that time I quit my field of business, started a business, sold it and now starting a new business...so there has been some start/stops. Below are pictures of it in 2014 when I picked it up after sitting for 21 years!
    Day one:

super cool!!!! I loved the patina before the sand blast. What is your plan? Full resto or resto mod? Just get it cleaned and drive it? Can you post some good pictures of the passenger mirror? It looks soooooo straight and rust free! Is it a 360/QT? Staying that way?

      full restro

Going for a full frame off restoration. It was not by choice but it just kept going deeper and deeper so I guess we are spending a lot to do this. Below is the goal to get back to

        Sand blasting

It became obvious that there was some body work to do, so I decided to just sand blast the entire body and start the frame off restoration

          Frame

After sand blasting, i pulled the cab and started from the ground up.
          -Sand blasted the frame
          -POR15 the entire frame
-Replaced shocks and struts with New Rancho's
          - The fuel tank was rusted out from the inside so had to rip that out and replace with a new plastic one. Thank god there was no cab on it, it was so easy.
          -Replace fuel lines....why not
          - Did some cleaning to the engine and spray painted a few things.
          -Replaced powersteering gear box
-You can not see in the pic, but I rhino lined the entire floor and underbody of the body before putting it back on the frame
-All new body Mounts. 3 bolts I snapped and had to drill out

            engine carb and intake

Could not help myself, upgraded the 2-barrel with an Edelbrock intake and a Holly 4-barrel carbonator.
I am will be upgrading with some more shiny parts like Chrome Edelbrock value covers. I painted the old one original blue but missed the actually color match

              Primed and ready for body

OK We are getting closer to the present. This was 3 months ago. I lost 100+ pics of the original interior, but will post random photos of small projects I did on parts. Here she is leaving storage of 2.5 years into the shop to start working again in October 2020

                almost out of paint

I will post this picture from today. We can see that the base coat baby blue is getting laid down. It is really coming together, BUT SO MUCH to do. Out of paint just starts the actual "build" portion. I have been working on the door panels, windows, dash pad, stereo and non-stop polishing stainless steel trim work.
                Here she is:

                    AMC Radio

I started to think about how I wanted the stereo to be. The current stereo is an AMC head with 4 5.25" speakers. I thought about putting a killer stereo in by replace the cargo area with 8" speakers and 6x9 in the front doors, add a 5 channel amp. Below is the stereo head after I took it out of the dash. You can see that the head is missing a screen

                      Clean AMC stereo

After I cleaned it up and opened it up, I found the two missing parts jammed up into it. Turns out it is an AM/FM 8-track!!! Need to clean the heads but can not do until it is hooked back up to the wagon. I going to stick with the 8track and just buy new 5.25 speakers, speaker Baffles (huge help with base), and a 200 small AMP

love all the coatings you said you did to frame/floors

it will be there decades from now.

                          yours will be unique

I have seen no one do that original color combo

                          sweet.

I'm not sure I have seen one that you can print off but someone was making them a little while ago. This one, maybe?
