Tailgate window power question, my turn to fix mine (of course)

I was lookin at the Ole Toms diagram and it states the 10 ga. tan power wire should be hot, but mine is not in key-on. The rear window opening function is intermittent, it will only open on a severly bumpy road, indicating either a loose, broken connection or a failing wire or bad switch?
    • I did check the pre-harness underneath, no voltage key-on
    • Continuity test at the repaired tailgate area, 100% fine
    • Connection on safety switch is strong, not loose
Would the safety switch be hot with just key-on? I could test it if so, if no power out other side, problem solved.

Any ideas folks? Appreciation in advance, you all have saved my bacon on numerous occassions.

No. Only when the pushing the switch to lift or lower the window, I think it is when you lift. When you lower the window that wire going through the safety switch will be acting as a ground.

Tailgates have a 2 wire reverse polarity circuit. You push the switch in one direction, and one wire is hot and the other is ground, which makes the motor lift or lower the window. You push the switch the other direction, and the first wire is ground and the other is hot, which make the window go the other way.
