    chrome steel wagon rim reproductions

we all have seen the black "D" shaped rims on summit for sale

I did not know they were made by U.S. WHEEL CORP.

I also did not know, until I was on the CJ-8 Scrambler forum

that they offer them in chrome,.....6 lug in various sizes...

I had never seen them listed on summit, jegs,... just the black ones.

product name : DAYTONA 87 SERIES

a nice, cost effective alternative to OEM chrome,

that are hard to find in excellent condition

Nice find. Much better in chrome, and much better on an old Jeep.

Did you know? Willys is just Willis spelled differently, but pronounced the same. Neither Willy nor his apostrophe are involved.

Cragar still makes a similar design - it's called Nomad.

        "much better in chrome"

        boy do I agree,.....

I am 50, don't know if it is cause I am a dinosaur or what,...

but I can't get on board with black rims,....

no offense to those who like them,...

like grandaddy said, "it would not do for everyone to like the same thing "

but a black rim is what we always avoided, it meant you could not buy hubcaps, or you had the spare on,....

I will look at those cragar nomads,...

the original cragar family has prob retired to the south of France with all those chrome mags they sold in the 70s,....used to see them everywhere you looked

just saw the cragar nomad,... the rolled edges on the US Steel rim is what puts their rim over the top,....just couple more holes that originals,....

but the cragars are a good alternative too.

Same here. I've run black or dark gray wheels before, but they're fairly traditional and I think fairly appropriate on old Japanese sports cars. The current trend of black wheels just doesn't do it for me.

Nice find. I currently have some black wheels on my rig because they are cheap. Been looking for a chrome alternative. Think I found it!
              Thanks

                Couldn't agree more - I wouldn't say it's an age thing as I'm 26 here!
It drives me mad how every car has to be blacked out these days, it makes them all look like base models to me.

Even worse when you see a car with blacked out wheels but still has chrome trim, it doesn't match at all!

                  on the blacked out thing

yes, we all know the last place you want to be inconspicuous, or un seen
                  is on the highway

then when I see those same blacked out cars emerge from the fog with no lights on, it really gripes me...

That gets me too! Loads of people black out the head/tail lights too.

Lately I've even been seeing it on motorcycles
