MidAtlantic Full Size Jeep Club 2010 Spring Fling

Well, last weekend here in South Jersey we had 30" of snow, weather prediction for tomorrow is an additional 18-24". With any luck we'll have some snow on the ground for the 2010 Snowball Fun Run on February 28th.
With this in mind I'm looking forward to spring and nice weather. Seems like a good time to prepare for our annual Spring Fling.
As always we'll be invading Rausch Creek Park for a weekend of camping and off-roading. They have always been very nice to our club and we've always had a good time there so why mess with success.
I've looked at the calendar and either of these weekends looks like a good time to shake off the winter blues:
April 23-24-25 or April 30/May1-2
Just like in the past the members of the club will decide on the final dates. Each Charter Member and/or Member gets 1 vote. Highest vote count wins. Please let me know which weekend works best for you no later than Sunday March 21st. I'll be sending an e-mail out to everyone in the club after that with the final schedule.
Remember Rausch Creek Park charges for yearly membership and daily entrance fees. Please look at their website http://www.rauschcreekoffroadpark.org/sis/mem.php
for membership and daily entrance fee information.
The MidAtlantic Full Size Jeep Club charges no dues or fees to attend any of its events.
Hope to see you all on the trails soon.

I recieved an e-mail from Lynn at Rausch Creek
"Good to hear from you. The new Northeast property will be a lot of fun for the full-size trucks, there's hillclimbs, mud, and lots of wide green trails. There's presently 14 miles of green trails and we will be building more trails of all levels from scratch.

May 1st is RCrocs, so if you guys like spectating for a bit at the rockcrawling comp, your wheeling admission will get you into the comp to spectate as well. There will be food and vendors. The comp takes place entirely within the concrete area, so none of the trail network is closed because of the comp.

You can camp as well. It just might be a bit more rowdy with the teams camping and pitting over behind the comp course.

Lynn"

With this in mind if you're planning on camping at Rausch Creek you might want to go on Friday to get a camping spot. Like I said I'm going up on Friday afternoon so if anyone wants to join me, let me know. I have to tell Rausch Creek how many of us will be camping on Friday night and when we expect to get there.

One of our Club Members; FSJEarl, will be entered in the competition at Rausch Creek. Here's the e-mail he sent me:

"Looks like you guys can come and cheer me and Zack H. on as we compete in Class 1 for RC Rocs! However, I will not be driving a FSJ as I am the driver for the Rausch Creek TJ. Can’t wait to have a GREAT cheering section, we will put on a good show, I promise!

EARL!"

Sure hope he tows that rock crawler to Rausch Creek behind one of his FSJs.
Let's make sure to cheer him on and wish him luck.

I plan on meeting everyone Sat morning. As much as I want to go the camping route, I need to have a few successful "camping" trips to the back yard with Josh beforehand...

I think Josh and Gandolf would do fine sharing a tent with you.

See you Sat AM.

Well with only a few weeks to go I hope everyone is getting their FSJs in running order for the Spring Fling. All indications are that we'll have a pretty decent group show up.

I'm still planning on going up on Friday afternoon (with permission of the FSJ Gods) I'll do my best to secure camping area. Any requests for specific camping spots? Let me know.

Less than 2 weeks to go

Well we're just over a week away from our Spring Fling at Rausch Creek Off Road Park http://www.rauschcreekoffroadpark.org/
Hope that you've been working on your FSJs to get them ready for the event. From the response I've had it looks like we'll have a pretty good turn-out.
I know it's kind of nuts to look that far ahead for the weather but so far the weather guessers are saying:
Friday 4/30 Partly cloudy high 71 low 54
Saturday 5/1 Mostly cloudy high 70 low 53
Sunday 5/2 Partly cloudy high 68 low 56
Seems like some of us will be there on Friday at various times. First one there gets to pick the campsite. Remember camping is free but it's first come, first served so if you're planning on camping at Rausch Creek I would suggest that you get there Friday night or very early Saturday morning.
Remember Rausch Creek charges a daily entrance fee of $35.00 for the vehicle and driver. Passengers age 16 and up are $7.00 each (When a passenger joins the park, the $5.00 fee is waived that day). There is also a yearly membership fee. Drivers and passengers age 16 and up are required to become members of the park which costs $15 per year and is good for one year from the date you join. If you are not a current member you can download the Membership Application and Waiver and fill it out before you get to the park to save some time.
The MidAtlantic Full Size Jeep Club charges no dues or fees to attend any of our events.

Piney Mike and I are leaving from his place at around 3:00PM Friday so we should be there around 6:00PM. Hope to see some of you there.
