What is a Cherokee Laredo?

What options are included in the Cherokee Laredo series which distinguish it from the standard Cherokee?

I have a 1982 Cherokee Wide Track that I am restoring, and I would like to eventually restore it so that it could be considered a "Laredo."

I am researching suppliers for leather seats or material, since the "nutmeg" color is difficult to find that blends well with the "orange bronze" color. The present interior is black, but black is a no-go in the deep south (USA) as an interior color.

But other than leather seats and an electric window in the tailgate, what else did the Laredo package include? Many thanks.

I'd have to scan the factory brochure to list all the options the Laredo package included. It was basically a culmination of several convience groups, with add-ons like Rear Defrost, under-hood light, special exterior striping, chrome wheels, chrome grille sections, uplevel interiors, vanity light, etc etc. It was the highest level option package for the Cherokee and J-truck at the time.

Thanks for scanning in the picture of the colors offered. Not sure if mine is listed or not. Perhaps the Copper Brown Metallic may be what I have, but I'm not sure.

Is there not a way to determine the color from the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number)?

Not through references we have access to. But on the plaque on the driver's side at the top corner of the firewall, there's a stamping with the VIN, as well as some other code numbers. One of those is the original paint code.

Hmm. it seems that all the picts from FSJworld never work right.

If you look on Ebay you can find an original brochure for '82 , that's where I got that one...for 5 bucks.

you always have good answers..seems to be just rust where my code should be...so I guess that's my official color code..or maybe the universal JEEP color code.

Maybe you need to get out the fancy AMC decoder ring for the numbers - A WIRE BRUSH!!! LOL! Honestly, unless the plate is really toast, it should clean up enough to read the numbers.

Maybe that's what AMC was trying to do with all of those Bronze/Brown combinations - find something that matches the inevitable rust they would all eventually have on them!!!

Not sure about an 82, but the 76 TSM lists the paint # on the ID plate on the left-hand side of the firewall under the hood. Third row middle was the paint option #. The TSM also states that paint wasn't available from the factory, but was available from Ditzler or duPont. They had a Dark Cocoa Metallic #H4 in 76. Bring your # to a paint jobber.

Mine didn't have the chrome grill inserts. It had JEEP on the grill though
Other then that, it has all the lights and power and rear defrost, etc. Anyone want to buy my chrome rims?
Never did get all the numbers off the plate for paint or anything else though.

They all had Jeep on the grille on trucks and Chero's. The chrome center section of the grill was a part of the Laredo package. If yours is black, then it got changed at some point.

What chrome rims do you have?

Older bad shot of them. One tire is blown out, and unsure of condition of other tires.
I really wouldn't doubt the grill was changed out.
Of course it has a Rhino grill now

Yeah the grille is part of the package. I'd have to scan the brochure to show it.

What are you asking for the rims?? 15X8 stock chromies, right? Would you be able to dismount the tires. Maybe PM me, I didn't want to hijack this post.....
