    Hood latch after rhino swap

Curious if anyone ran into issues with the crest of the rhino blocking access to the hood latch. This is on a 71 which had a razor. The swap was as easy as could be, but the hood latch is now blocked. Not sure if I should try to relocate the push bar for the latch, convert to a pull cable or what others have done.

Used a brake caliper pin, an alternator spacer, a spring, a brake hose C-clip, two brake booster grommets, an o ring, and a nut and washer to make this popper that hides behind the center of the rhino. Spring, grommets and o ring keep it from rattling. Works great for only one hole drilled.

Seemed like a good idea at the time...

I cut off the paddle and re welded it hanging straight down. Then cut an access hole throught the Sheet metal for the paddle to stick through. I can now reach through the grill and pull the paddle with ease to open the hood.

Another good idea. Thanks for sharing. Glad to know I wasn't the only one with the issue.

I was going to suggest cable, but I have all the pieces to make it work, you may not.

Phil, what Metal Twister did is pretty much what the factory did. On Rhino grille rigs there is a large stamped hole in the support for the tab to stick down. The razor and rhino tabs are the same, just welded at different angles.

I did the same thing to my 71. Just cut the welds on your tab, and reweld it. It's supposed to angle forward a bit.

Got it. Both ways seem simple enough. Pics and info are a huge help.

Do you have the razor and hood bar up for sale, by any chance?

                  Thanks,

I did what Metal Twister did except that I used a Gladiator hood too so it already had the paddle hanging down so all I had to do was to cut the hole in the radiator support.

I understand, sometimes its good to keep the OEM parts on hand just in case. Just thought Id ask.

I doubt seriously I go back as I love the Rhino. Are you looking for the head light frames for the razor as well? Also, pardon my ignorance, but is the "hood bar" the small piece that runs parallel and above the grill? Mine was complete and in pretty good shape . maybe some paint missing inside the badge . can remember although I just moved it to a new storage building around the house :-)
