Which oil filter are you using? A poor quality oil filter will leak down over night resulting in rattle on start up.

I should have said that is the date they noted on the drawing when they added the core plug holes. I think they added to help get the core sand out of the block.

The engines are the same. The only thing you have to worry about is one was in front of a TH400 and the other being a 727. There is a sizing ring in the back end of the crank to accept the TH400...

The AMX is a 1969 290 4 speed car with the "Light Group" being the only option. They made 619 AMX's with the 290, 4spd in 1969.
