Dana 20 Slipping out of 2WD HI

Contributed By: Ken Wetherall

From the OEM 67 manual, if the case walks outta 2hi, the shift lever WILL NOT move, the mainshaft sliding gear has disengaged from the tranny and there is no power to ANY of the wheels. internal inspection is called for.

1) remove the shift lever control case.
2) move the shift lever into 2wdhi. tap the front end of the INNER rail with a hammer 3-4 times gently. the legs of the torsion spring with in the lever case should prevent the rail from moving. if this fails, replace the internal torsion spring and repeat the above steps.
