GW Electric Mirror Switch Wiring

Contributed By: Tom Collins

Ken, as this may be more common that I thought I'll cc the fsj list also. For those that may not know, when you remove the drivers door panel you put strain on the back of the power mirror switch. If you are not careful the pressure will "pop" off the back of the switch & you end up with 8 wires just hanging there... Been there, done that...

Holding the mirror switch, looking at it from the back, put the R/L switch on the right side.

You should see one "path" single by itself just to the center of top right. This is the BLACK power lead (ground) and goes to the power connector.

To the right of this there should be a "path" coming off the bottom side that has 4 wires. Going from the very top wire next to where the black wire exits this is the WHITE wire that goes to the short 3-wire connector. Going Clockwise from there is a LIGHT GRAY or BEIGE with Black Tracer wire that goes to the long 3-wire connector. Clockwise again and at the left connection in that "path" there is a GRAY wire that goes to the short 3-wire connector. Clockwise or to the right of that there is the ORANGE wire that goes to the power connector for the red wire.

Starting back at the top where the Black wire was, to the left side there is a "path" with 3 connections. The top one next to where the black wire exits YELLOW with Black Tracer that goes to the long 3-wire connector. Clockwise next is a WHITE with Black Tracer that goes to the long 3-wire harness. The last wire is a Solid YELLOW wire that goes to the short 3-wire connector.

Basically the short 3-wire connector has all solid wires & the long 3-wire connector has wires with black tracers.
