Willie Trautman and Jeff Watts, Jr. Meet

I got to meet Willie Trautman this past Tuesday. He and his wife were on vacation here in NC. We'd swapped some email last week and I'd told him if he had time I'd like to meet him. He gave me a call Monday, and said that he and his wife, Gail, would be headed home on Tuesday... would I like to meet them for lunch.

We met at Quincy's at noon on Tuesday. Unfortunately, we were both FSJ-less. (His is sans engine at the moment, and mine's waiting for me to bail him out of the shop.) We ordered, and Willie paid for mine. (Thanks again Willie.) We ate and talked... and talked and talked. We talked about FSJ's and Willys' and everything in between.

After lunch, we went out to his van and I got to see the pictures of Willie's 51 Willys 4x4 pick-up. Gail took a picture of the two of us, standing in front of "Smiley", my (dare I say it?) YJ. (The pix will be posted as soon as they're developed.)

All in all I had a great time and really look forward to seeing them again. Willie, next time is my treat.
