Fitting Newer Doors

Hi Guys,

I am sure some of you guys have done this and may can help with some of the issues -- used to enjoy figuring it out but now I can use all the help I can get, guess that come with age. I want to fit 83 GW front doors to my 72 J2000 (like the chrome surrounds, PW, PDL, speakers, door panels, PM, & they are much more solid than my 72 ones). The hinges seem pretty straight forward and the dimensions appear the same; however, the latches are different. Looks as if maybe the door latch mechanisms in the doors may enterchange by relocating a counter-sunk screw or two (don't have the same bolt pattern). Or, is there a way to change out the striker pieces in the door jambs (again different bolt patterns??)??

Will try to get some pics on here now that the old camera is returned.

Thanks,

Kin Cobb

See my sig link. I have an article on swapping newer doors into an M715. Yours should be similar.

Just be sure to use the original hinges, they open wider.
