my new Uglyjeep build-up

Well I figured I'd start a build thread for my new toy.

Here are the pics taken just after its arrival today-
http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/f...e/IMG_3803.jpg

http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/f...e/IMG_3801.jpg

http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/f...e/IMG_3802.jpg

Tomorrow I plan on fixing the ignition switch and the underhood wiring. I'll also swap out the fenders with some that I have already trimmed and the razor grill with a rhino. (I will be sure to post pics )

Soon to come will be-

lights in the pie plate holes
soa & shackle flip or just a set of AAL's (not sure yet)
HEI
dana 18 w/ rancho od
braden PTO winch
vernier throttle cable
4 (or 3) point harnesses
full cage
custom bumpers
and I'm sure a bunch of other stuff

Does anyone have any other cool ideas for what I should do to it?

It's going to be my DD and the vehicle I drive longer distances (ie from here to AZ), but I offroad very regularly (even on my way home from class or work ). Most of the offroading I do is either old rocky or sandy trails, but occasionally I do a little mild crawling.

Put after your pic links...

That will save everyone a lot of time over the course of this thread...

Thanks for the advice and the complements on the rig. It's far from what I'd call clean (cancer everywhere but the floor and front fenders). But who cares, it just means that I can smash the body while offroading and not care. Whoever cut the rear, cut straight and sealed it up ok, so...

That thing is a sweet ride. It looks very clean and straight and is a nice platform to build a really nice trail rig. Have fun building it up! Erik

I didn't get as much done as I had hoped, but I did make some decent progress. I was able to install the new ignition switch, put on the rhino grill, and "clean up" the underhood wiring and smog equipment. Because the wires from the distributer pickup are cut, and I removed the crappy rewiring, I wasn't able to run it today. I did, however, buy a new HEI to install, so once that's in I should be able to drive the sucker around.

under the hood before

under the hood after

a beat-up rhino grill on a beat-up jeep.

The wrench I found behind the valence, wedged under the driver side running light - forged steel, made in the USA

I wish I had time to get dirty with my Jeep....

I know that I am full of pic advise BUT... you pics are pretty big, which is fine for those of us with fast internet, but the forum den mother will remove them as soon as she tries to look at this thread with here SLOW @ss internet...

An easy solution is to either select a lower setting on your camera, or dowload this: http://www.irfanview.com/ It is VERY easy to use, and will let you downsize your pics for eaiser viewing (640x480)...

Here's one for you-
http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/f...j/IMG_3500.jpg

And another
http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/f...j/IMG_3533.jpg

(I posted them as links so as to not take up the extra space for an off topic post )

Ignore that nutcase standing up in the back (me). My cousin was driving, and my buddy took the pics. He also drove on that trip, and consenquently, now owns a cj-6 of his own (after we found it in riverside I towed it out to tucson for him).

How's that?

I realised I had photobucket only downsizing to 1 MB, I changed it to 640x480.

Yep, thats the ticket... Fun pics too...

Now its time for you to school me... How did you make that selection on photobucket? Ive been taking the pics in high quality (thats how I like'em), then downsizing them, THEN putting them in photobucket..

On the box thing that says "upload images & video" there's an area (toward the bottom of it) that says "reduce to:" and you can select the size you want them. Please excuse my computer illiteracy (I have no clue about any of the terminology).

Wow, that was easy enough... I cant believe the amount of time that I have wasted reducing them BEFORE I sent them to photobucket...

Thanks...

I've been making some progress. I got my cheep 5" lights installed behind the valence in the openings.

I received my HEI distributor Friday evening, and had it installed on Saturday. Man it runs (ran) really nice with that dizzy.

Here's the manual choke I real quick fabbed up Saturday. Yeah I know I could have bought a universal kit, but they all looked so flimsy I didn't want to waste the $20 on one. And this one only cost me $3 (two brass NPT fittings).

And here is the final result of all my weekend efforts, a *insert explicative here* hole in the timing chain cover. I was fooling around in my yard, and got into the throttle a bit to much for the corroded piece of junk cover. Now my jeep is sitting in the back waiting for me to get a replacement .

My Cherokee has had some major changes made to it. It has gone from a full bodied cherk to this

Then to this

And then this

And now this

The chassis was painted flat black and the rusted out floor of the cab has been replaced http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff31/uglyjeep/cherokee/IMG_3932.jpg
http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff31/uglyjeep/cherokee/IMG_3931.jpg
I also partially primed the cab (the yellow paint) and I sprayed duplicolor truck bed liner on underneath (I know it’s not the best, but I bought a gallon of it for a buck…). The bed was part of a really old IH that I pulled from a trailer (which must have been built long ago from various truck parts). The round trailer fenders are going away and I’m going to pick some up that look more like the ones on a thriftside.

My j20 axles may be coming this weekend, but the guy I'm getting them from has flaked out twice so far (I’m keeping my fingers crossed).

Hey, What where the symptoms that told you to change the ignition?

Reason I ask, I am picking up one of two j-300's that I have recently acquired, one of them was running until something happen electrically causing it to not start.. I realize it could be one of many things, but the ignition feels like a good place to start..

Wishful thinking this is all the one requires to drive!!!
