New Shoes for the J2000

I finally had time to get the wheels powder coated, the tires cleaned and them all mounted up.

The wheels are factory Jeep 16x6 wheels that have the 3 clips to hold the factory dog dish hub caps.

The tires are 7.50-16 Eldorado Super Deep Lug IIs.

Let me know what you think.

Thanks,
Rankin

Thanks for the compliments!

I think the wheels turned aout really nice and it gives it that good ol classic look I've wanted for this truck for a long time. Now I just need to find my dang hubcaps.

Thanks,
Rankin

Thanks guys!

I agree it looks good as is, but it will look GREAT with the hubcaps! I'm just a huge sucker for the dog dish hubcaps, plus the truck originally came with them so they will be going back on.

Elliott did you ever locate a set for the '64?

Thanks,
Rankin

Looks awesome, if you don't mind me asking how much did those tires cost you and where did you get them?

Well I actually made $200 by trading my old 33" Super Swampers for them. They came from Lubbock, a buddy of mine saw them at a small tire shop and bought them and then never used them so i traded the swampers for the tires plus $200.

As far as I know these haven't been made for several years now. I think Cooper tire just discontinued there traction 7.50-16s. Power King, Galaxy, Specialty Tires of America are some off the top of my head that still make tires similar.

Thanks,
Rankin

What I picked up turned out to be for the '68 up J4000. Not the same. I'm pretty sure I know where a useable set are but need to make some money to work it out.

I'm a sucker for the dog dish hubcaps as well.

Did you have any issues with the powder coating cracking when you torqued the lugnuts down?

Well actually my J2000 was a pretty bad lowrider. It currently has leafs from a CJ 4' spring pack up front and the rear shackles have been rotated to point down. Over all this gained roughly a 3" lift. The Jeep is also sitting on jack stands in these photos so that adds a little hight as well.

Well I haven't torqued them down yet, they are just past hand tight, but no signs of cracking yet, but I see how it might.

Thanks,
Rankin
