Steering column transplant...

So my new waggy has the loosest column in the world, and I don't just mean the tilt. The whole column moves around in circles when you try to shift and steer and everything. I have a nice tight tilt column in my cherokee. Are they interchangeable? 88 GW w/ tf727, 78 Chero w/ th400. I figure I will lose the cruise control, but its a trail rig, not a highway rig. Are there any other problems with doing this swap?

if it's loose like that, then the bolts that hold the column to the bracing under the dash have come loose. Remove the plastic trim where the column goes into the dash, and you'll see the bolts.....I'd suggest using a thread-locker or lock-washers and tighten it back up. Then, for the tilt part, tear down the column and tighten the small bolts and use some lock-tite
