CB Radio Antenna Mounting

So time for the age old question again... where to mount both? I'm thinking a bumper mount K40 and mounting my big Cobra on the dash. Thoughts? Concerns?

There's a reason some suspension bolts have MF on them.

I mounted mine just ahead of the roof rack in the center above the dome light, as the roof acts as a ground plane. If you mount it at a lower position like off the bumper or fender you lose some signal.

middle of the roof is the best place for the antenna.you do want to have a ground plane for proper transmission .

I know that the middle of the roof is THE BEAST place, I even worked for a radio installer many years ago, heck even my J20 came with it's antenna in the center of the roof.

But you got to admit it makes your truck look like a giganto remote controlled car.

Have mine mounted to the rear bumper, get a pretty decent range with it. Longest I've tested it is about 8 miles from the Interstate and easily talked with the truckers. Haven't tested any further than that though with the Waggy's.

But with my old XJ I had it mounted on the roof rack. 4' Wilson connected to a Uniden 510 and 21ft of Cable.. I was transmitting 15 miles and receiving about 20 miles out.

What about the radio itself?
