Ideal Waggy

To start off, I'm a big Jeep guy (MJ's and XJ's mostly) but I really dont know much about the FSJ world. I'm looking into getting a Wagoneer and what to know what I should look for and what I should lookout for.

I'll be using this as my primary rig, but keep in mind I have a company truck to drive to and from work. I'd like to seat up to 5/6 people, towing if needed, and be a comfortable and reliable rig.

What is the ideal waggy?

Look for frame rot on the late model rigs where the gas tank meets the left frame rail.

If you're going with a late model waggy your options are limited on drivetrain...manual transmissions were almost unheard of in the later years...I think it was special order if it was even possible in the last few model years, so you're going to have the 727 transmission...nothing wrong with that. Powerplant is going to be the 360 V8 more than likely...you could still get the 258 I6 up to a certain year, not sure how far. The Tech Forum has a good drivetrain database posting that shows what came when...it's pretty darn accurate...

I forgot to mention this before. An ideal Waggy is a running one
