My new, (to me), 81 J10 stepside Honcho

Well, after months of looking for a FSJ Cherokee or pickup, I finally found 1981, J10 stepside Honcho. This is the first Jeep i have owned since I bought a new Cherokee Chief back in 1977.
The J10 has "NO ROT" anywhere on it. It has a 360 and a 4 spd trans. I believe it is all pretty much original. The bad is that the right fiberglass fender was destroyed. I am going to have some work to do to mold a new one out of fiberglass. I looked far and wide for a nice, budget priced truck to start out with. Finally scored this one, and it is only about 20 miles from my home. I plan to go drive it home on Friday.
Sorry, but I can not get my photos small enough to post here. This forum seems to have a much smaller size limit, than other "vbulletin' forums I visit.

Jeff

It is a metallic brown with yellow and orange Honcho decals. I got it just north of Sanger, Tx. I am not good with this image stuff, and have not been able to figure out how to get it from Photobucket to this forum.

Bill,
It appears to be all original. There is no signs that I can see, that it was converted from an automatic. It also has factory A/C. The faded sticker on the tailgate, shows it was probably sold new at a dealership in Arizona.
The guy I bought it from, got it from a fellow in Minn. It must not have been up in Minn. long, as there is no rot whatsoever on this truck. Floors, rockers, tailgate and bed are all rock solid.

There appears to be a decent sized scratch in that passenger side rear fender

Seriously though, sweet truck. Awesome that it's a stick.

Maybe I'll see ya running around up here in North Texas!

Have a t-18 in my '79 Honcho. Wasn't aware that was an oddity.

BTW, Nice truck. Too bad about the fender.

Nice Rig!
I was under impression that one of WagonMaster style Wagoneer restorers/resellers was reproducing these Sportside Fenders.

Looking good, nice score too! Call me this weekend if you want to get together to look over the fender situation.

BTW, when you post your picture links into the box you can just run your cursor to cover up the http:// that is already in the box.

Nice find!

When you upload pictures they get stored on the site server which is donated for free, so we try not to abuse bandwidth on that system. Some of us are still on dial up too (yeah I am one of them) and we try to keep this all bandwidth friendly for everyone in spite of some who can't seem to figure it out.

Here are the picture rules:

Congratulations. I think that's the second coolest Honcho I've ever seen. Mine came with a T176/258 engine. Would the V8 version have the T18?

Congrats!

Jeff,

Nice score. I downsized 2 of your pic's and deleted the others. I'm on DSL and a 22 inch IMAC and those pic's were just way yonder to large.

The '80 and up J10 would have a T176.

Not from the factory. In the 80s, only the J20 would have the T18.
