Time to Formalize the Build
I was going to post this under the "I'm Thinking" tab but new threads cannot be added there.
I have been asking a lot of questions lately in different threads and am getting close to actually spending money on collecting parts.
The Plan:
Wagoneer or Grand (I found an 87 that I think will make a good start)
4BD1-T Isuzu
47RH
T-case (I want to go with a 203/205 doubler but am not sure I can get a 203 on the back of a 47RH)
Questions:
Stock axles- will the D-44s be okay with selectable lockers and the diesel?
Any info on the t-case to tranny hook up will be a great help.
What have you guys with the 47RH done to control the OD and converter lock up?
I would like to do a spray on liner for the floor but don't want to loose sound deadening and insulation. Are there spray on products that compensate for this?
I love reading all the interesting ideas that come from this board. Please post them up and discuss. Feel free to persuade me and direct me in parts choices. By all means tell me if I am about to do something stupid.

Can't wait to see the build. Really nice combo.
Have you tried the Isuzu forum at www.4btswaps.com ?

Sorry about that being vague and all.
I leave that there so I can remember the format if I need to add a new section.

Sounds like a cool project.
Axles- I would be concerned about running Dana 44's behind a diesel with doubler t-cases. Doublers with the trans in 1st gear can have over 100:1 gear ratios. Add that to the torque a diesel can generate and that could eat up a Dana 44.
47RH- I'm just going to use push buttons to operate the overdrive and torque converter. I haven't decided on how I'll configure them to come on and off, but I'll have dumby lights also. The one concern is because they're manual operation the operator has to stay aware.
Order a digital Dodge factory manual for the year of your transmission from Geno's garage dotcom. They're only $30 or so and will give you every bit of info there is about the 47RH, including electrical.

Forgot this comment.
Bedliner/sound deadening/Insulation- I decided the strip the cab to bare metal and redo it all in bedliner. For sound deadening and insulation I bought a little more than 100 square feet each of the aluminum backed rubber stick-on material and 1/4" neoprene off ebay. I also grabbed a quart of good quality rubberized undercoating for the wheelwells and possibly the underside trans tunnel.

I always share this link with regards to sound deadening as I feel it's real helpful:

This is going to be a sweet build! Can't wait!

There's also this:
http://sounddeadenershowdown.com/
Seems to be updated since the last time I looked at it.
Interesting that he sells a Dynomat type product but only recommends 25% coverage.
The link jMedia posted seems not to differentiate between CLD and MLV.
Who's right???

NV242?
I am collecting parts for my diesel conversion. The plan is an Isuzu 4BD1T with a 47 RH transmission. The original thought was an NP 205 twin stick. What are your thoughts about using an NV 242 behine this combo. WIll it hold up to the diesel?

Sounds interesting. Regarding the axle gearing, I suggest getting the powerband of that particular dsl then work the formula to figure gearing that'll keep you in the band. Gearing swaps are expense and time consuming so you want to get it ideal the first go around. My first impression is either 3.31's or even 3.54's will be too high to get the most out of that dsl motor.

3.54s in OD will give ~2300 RPM at 75MPH. I was kind of going for the highway cruise speed. Still need to research the engine a little but I think that's pretty close. 3.54 is, BTW, a common gearing in QT rigs for which spare parts (gears) are available and cheap. I need to make sure the RPM is set both good in the band for power and economy. This is kind of a dual purpose daily driver/Expedition type rig. I plan to put the big aero tank and a suburban tank in for the potential of some very long legs.

Well, I got the Isuzu to Cummins adapter, the cummins transmission adapter, flexplate, starter, and 47RH (condition unknown) ordered today. I talked to the guy that built my 727 something like 15 years ago and he said he will build the 47 RH for $1100 including new converter. Does this sound like a good price? Since it will be behind a lower HP engine are there any modification that need done during the build or is a stock rebuild okay?
