Parts Value-Jeep Related?

I am building another CJ with FSJ underpinnings. I have some mild tranny issues with the t-176. The Jeep is an 81 CJ with a 258 etc.

I have found a 78 CJ-5 and it has a 360, with a t-18/20 combo and an aftermarket Eddy Intake and Carb. The rig was parked for wiring issues about 4 years ago. I should note that it has some other pieces that I need as well. Such as a NIB Painless Wiring kit and so forth.

I am contemplating using the transmission and transfercase in my 81.

The price on the CJ is a bit higher than I want to spend and it will take much of my build fund to buy it.

What is the approximate going rate on the t-18/20 combo in today's market?

Approximate value on an aftermarket intake and Carb?

I just can't afford to tie up all my money and then have nothing left so I need an extra set of eyes so to speak.

Thank you, ROB

Re the CJ T-18/D20 combo, the wide ratio T-18 was only available in the CJ from 1977 through 1979. Earlier years used the close ratio transmission.

The T-18 is probably worth a few to several hundred bucks to a CJ owner who wants to upgrade. This year range is the only widely known source for a complete WR T-18 setup for a CJ. Certainly it's worth less than the retail price of a Novak or Advance adapter kit. The T-18, adapter and (unique?) bellhousing is worth somewhat more than a Ford T-18 or other Jeep T-18s, just because it's ready to go without adapting or parts-mixing. How much more depends on the buyer's time, saavy and scrounging skills.

OK. I have a habit of buying more cars than I need to. I didn't want to spend a fair amount of money and then be seriously upside down if I had to liquidate.

Intake worth? I will assume it is a Performer.

Used CJ T-18/D20 combos around here bring $300-$500 if in good working order.

OK.

I'm not sure on the carb.

That sounds about right on the tranny. I was figuring best case scenario I could pull $450-500 out of the complete flywheel to rear output yoke.

I just got off the phone with him and he is sending me some pics.

That should help me with the decision.

Thank you, ROb
