Dash pad

My dash pad is so cracked, I was thinking about taking it off. I konw the windshield has to be out to remove the dash, but is it possible to remove the dash pad without removing the windshield? I don't plan on saving it, so I can take it out in pieces, if I can get to all the bolts.

Anyone have any picks of a dash without the pad?

You can get the pad off without removing the windshield you just have toget it off the dash and pull, it should rip right off from under the windshield gasket. You will have a bunch of holes in the dash when you are done though.

When I pulled the one out of Crom I pulled all the nuts out I could get to then lifted it up and jerked it out with the help of a nail bar

Thanks guys. I think I'll take it off tomorrow. I would rather look at wholes in the dash than the cracked pad (its really bad). I'll keep my eye out for a good pad to replace it with one day.

Whaa?! Dash pads are available? In addition to fiberglass body panels coming out from Z&M, that knocks out two of the harder parts to find for FSJs.

It's like a cover-lay. It fits over your busted pad. Local upholstery supply store has them for around $100.

Yeah, read your post. Still awesome though, as its a solution to the dash pad problem that plagues 90% of earlier FSJ owners.

Click on the link above the "Before" pic. The number and all the info is in the first post. Just tell him it's for a Jeep like the kind Scott Little builds.
He will know what your talking about then.

Cardomain may have their hood up doing some repairs. If it's still not working for you I will upload it to Photobucket and repost it for ya.

While I'm thinkin about it, do you know if he has a version that will cover the dash pads with the section that drops down on the passenger side?

Just called him. The manufacture said all they have available are 76-86. Also, due to low demands they are considering dropping those from production. If you need one now would be a good time to order one. Tony said he will order some but doesn't want to buy a truckload unless he knows there will be a need for them. If you are seriously interested in one call him (Tony Ceja) at (662)-566-8776 and make a order. He's a great guy to deal with.

But there are 2 styles of 76-91. If the pad wraps down on the right side of dash, it is not the same profile all the way across like the picture you have. You know what I mean Vern?

I am seriously considering this a solution for Krista's 77 Waggy which has developed a crack in the speaker grille. You get out to Ouray Scott and we'll buy ya a plate of mighty fine BBQ from the kitchen at KOA!
