J10 vs C10 - PICS ADDED!

HI all!

Its been just a little over a year when i sold my last FSJ. I thought I'd not have one for quite a while. Recently, I have been looking at a C10 ch*vy. I was quite smitten by the C10 until I gave my kids friend a ride home and seen a orange short J10 on 33" and lifted mildly. I ask the kid if his dad would sell it... he called his dad and he said, sure! He has had trouble keeping it running. not too much rust and ORANGE is my favorite color! its a '79 with a '78 grill, lights in it. it has some rust but it is NICE! i CANNOT WAIT until he gets me a price.

It has a 360, 4 speed (t18?), and what transfer case?

Aaron

UPDATE: HE DOESNT WANT TO SELL IT. HE DID FIND IT IN ON THIS FORUM AND IS A MEMBER... SO I REMOVED THE PHOTOS.

If it has a manual tranny: it could have either the T18 (4 speed) or T150(?) three speed and D20 T-case

If auto tranny it would have a Turbo 400 and a Quadatrack T-case.

I am strongly against chevy's (Sorry, born and raised that way), but are you really asking this question in a FULL SIZE JEEP forum? What do you really think the answer is going to be?

T-18 if it's a 4 spd, T-15 if it's a 3 spd, both good trannies. T-case will be a Dana 20, which is a pretty good case. Paired up with a T-18, you'll have a better than avg low range.

Take a good look at the floor pans and the rear of the bed where it joins the sidewalls, those are the prime rust areas. Pics are a requirement when you get them.

OH, there is rust for sure... along the bed in the usual place and then the corners of the bed behind the bumper. But over all it is NICE. Will get some pics today. I'll run the gears to see if it is 3 or 4 speed. I didn't know they made 3 speeds that late. I always think of a t-18 as a three speed with an extra low granny gear for work.

Okay, I am Jeep guy, but I also like other rides as well, yes even Chevys.
I would very much enjoy owning, building and driving a rig like Stacey David's Copperhead

I like Jeeps because around here and most everywhere I go, there are not many FSJ around,
not to mention J10 and C10 are more common.
I would go with the J10, but a hot C10 can be just as fun.
HEY..here's an idea...build one of each!

Nice looking J10.

I've always been partial to orange trucks. I'd love a 77 Chevy K20/30 done up in tgat burnt orange and white. With the full side trim (yellow for 77).

I have Jeeps and GMs. In fact my most recent purchase is equal parts both from the factory. It has a TH-400 and a Buick V-6!

I love the Chevy trucks of that era, but if you live in the rust belt those rear control arms on the 2wd's were pretty crappy for rust through, even worse than a jeep???? My '65 & '72 were both bad for it.

I like trucks, Dodge, Chevy, Ford, and especially Jeeps, they each have their own appeal.
