Need pointers on shipping a rear axle.
Okay guys and gals..
A member here needs a rear dana 44 I took off my 88 WAg.
The nearest Fedex Frieght is about 40 miles away and they don't do pickup out here..
What are my other options?
Also correct me if I'm wrong, but the weight of a rear axles is apparently between 125-200 pounds?
This would be without tires and rims.
Thanks
Aaron

Try using uship.com, its basically the ebay of shipping. Post what youve got to ship, where its got to go, when you need it gone, and how much youre willing to pay.
Sit back and wait for people going that route to outbid each other on the job, and make your pick.
Ive used it a half dozen times to ship cars, rolling chassis, engine blocks, etc...and am a happy guy for having done it.
Other than that, I'll use Greyhound shipping for stuff like glass and sheet metal. Cheap, fast and reliable, as you know the exact time that the bus will pull into the local station.

You probably already know, but theres a Greyhound about 15 miles away from you in Marion. Greyhound is usually more concerned about length than weight if memory serves correct.

pfft....that clown won't drive over to grab it? sheesh, what a wuss.
if he were to drive there,i'll offer this-tell him to be there first thing in the morning, that way you won't be up til 11pm waiting for him to show up cause he gets lost every 5 miles.......
although,it aint ALL his fault....i think his navigator may be a bit mental.....
