New guy.
I have been a memeber on here for a few months but only this last week did i begin to post up so i thought i would say "Hello" y'all.
I have a 78 J-10 with a 258. I bought it from a farmer that used it as a wood truck. And it shows. The beed is gone and so are most of the other body panels. But hey i only paid 500 bux for a running and driving 4X4 truck.
I started today by pulling off all the "pathc panels" that were rivited on and sealed with 50lbs of tar each. Only to find nothing but rot.

anything in gray is a patch panel.
I pulled the driver side door apart trying to get the patch off . Now i need a new door lol.
All in all the truck is not to bad. It has taken some abuse with some farm work at my place and now im parking it and going to give it a little fix up and turn it into a off road rig. Here are some pics of her.
Thanks
Mike
The day i bought it vvvvvv
 We were bored
 EPIC FAIL!!

Hole wasnt that deep last time...

Welcome to the Madness known as FSJ!
Since you soaked the drivetrain real good, it is probably time to change out the fluids and repack the front axles bearings.

I think it looks great if you don't wash it. The mud hides the primer nicely.

Yeah deff needs fulids int he drive train. I changed the oil already.
pinion seals on the 44 and 20 are shot. Im pulling the transfercase here this week and going to rebuild it. Im still not 100% sure on what transfer case i have. the diff on the AMC 20 sits toward the pass side alittle to im thinking Dana 20?? Correct me if im wrong.
Oh yeah im a late nighter. I work full time secons so i get home around 12:30am.
Any addvice on where to find a bed for this monster? Mine kinda rotted apart before i got it and its held together with well... nothing just kinda there lol

you should have dana 44 axles front and rear on your 78 if its a j10. a dana 20 is a transfer case. if you have an auto it should be th400/ qtrac, if manual it would be a t15 or t18 and a dana 20.

I would think it has Dana 44 axles front and back. Since there are no manual hubs on the front axle, I would guess you have a Quadratrac. If so, there should be a Hi/Lo flag shifter just under the front edge of the drivers seat coming out of the tranny hump and a vacuum switch in the glovebox with a green and red instruction sticker around it.

My J10 sat under a pecan tree for 8 years. When we lifted the bed off, half of the floor stayed behind. I had to cut it into pieces to get it apart.
Welcome to the madness!
