Post Mount Tire/Wheel pics

Looking for thoughts and pics of Post Mount Gladiators for tire/wheel combo ideas. I have 33x12.5x15 TSL radials on old 70's hurricane wheels that measure an odd size of 8.75" wide and 4" backspace. I have 0.75" between the tire and rear spring and would like to replace the wheels with 15x10" eatons or other black steels but don't know which backspace to go with. How different will the 33's sit on 15x10 vs the existing 8.75"'s??
I have a 4"HC lift so I would also like to purchase wheels that would allow me to go to a 35x14x15 or something close to it in the future? Thoughts or suggestions and pics if you have anything similar to what I'm looking for? Thanks

Backspacing

Tires balloon out more on wider rim, and won't be quite as tall.

How much out past rim, who knows for sure....

So to compensate get less backspacing than you have now.

I like those rims you have now.

I thought about that style before deciding on the slots.

Cool looking flatbed.

Thanks for the kind words, 68-glad PM sent with some details. guess I'll take some measurements and buy one wheel taking a best guess on backspace, mount a 33 and see what I've got, take some more measurements for future growth comparing the 33' diamensions to 35'S before buying the other 3 wheels. If lucky I'll only have to buy 3 more, and not 4, could always keep the test wheel and a 33 as a spare if the first try is not successful? I do like the look of the current wheels, different and old school, but I need wider, the 33's want a wider wheel as well, looks a little long legged at this point.

VAGladiator, by all means...if you have more pics or dont mind snapping off a few more, please post away!! What did you use for donor rear fenders, or did you fabricate them yourself? The execution is very nice and really enhances the sense of "muscles" on the rig.

Personally, youve got my undivided attention, so any plans, assembly tips or in-process photos you've got would be great!!

Thanks,

Chuck Brown

chuck pm sent with a couple more pics and details.

skeletor thanks for the offer, going to pull a wheel and do some measuring tomorrow, problem is these old odd size wheels, not sure exactly of all the dimensions. Know of any good wheeling locations within FSJ travel distance of Front royal?? Seriously considering making the journey to PA Jeeps in York next week, but in the glad it's a painful 4 hour trip. pretty sure it would make it just don't know how long or at what cost. Was trying to nail this wheel thing down before the show, had some good deals on wheels last year.

The old hurricanes measure 9" wide , 3.75" backspace. After some scale drawings I figure a 14.5" wide tire on a 15x10 with 3.75" of backspace will just touch the spring strap bolt on the rear spring. Will have to go with slightly less backspace for 14.5's. Any idea what the least backspace should be before bearings and stuff start to feel the pain, especially with 35's on stock D44 and D53 axles? Keep in mind the truck goes to the dump and groceries more than offroad but it does do some light fire roads and stock class offroad trails once a month or so.

This is an old scanned pic before the 4" HC springs so it's not as clear.
