BIG plans for the J20... **CrewCab**
I am considering converting my J20 into a 4 door. My initial measurements tell me that I would still have quite a lot of bed left, which is good.
I know that this has already been done, so I am not really being original here, but I still want one.
My ideas:
Cut off back of J20 cab
Cut off front of J20 bed
Cut back seat section out of a Waggy
Attach Waggy section to the J20
Square up rear doors
Install front section back onto the bed
And bam.... Done..
Sounds easy enough right??
Whatcha think?
And no, I wont be starting this anytime toooo soon. I need to get it back to my garage in Texas first. Plus, I need to do a lot more measurements and plans before I start to cut anything...

one at time
Man you got the energy, you seem to get alot done FAST.
Must be military the training?
Finish (well get close) one project at time---or you'll be challenging Pascal and Elliott for the "Kind of unfinished Project's" title.
I do think the 4 door projects are sooo cool. Another classic of what Jeep should of built.
What a tow rig, just need slide in camper and diesel engine and trailer the offroad rig away.
Ford Superduty eat your heart out!
What are some of the links to other build threads of 4 door crew cab J-trucks? I've seen bits and peices but not whole thread while being built.

You change rigs like I change underwear. What's the longest you've owned a rig?

I have had my ZJ for about 3 years so far, and that is a record..
However, I havent gotten rid of, or bought any new rigs in at least 3 months now, so I think I am doing pretty good...
The J20 in question is my current DD, and I have a parts waggy here now to rob the center section out of, so this project wont require any Jeep swappin...

I thought that the cab on Jtrucks are taller than on waggys and cherokees. Meaning the roof line will not line up.
I would be that happiest man in the world if I had a crew cab Jtruck (with a brow), diesel conversion, at least a 6' bed, 1 tons and 35s, plus a whole load cool details.
Can't wait to see how the project turns out, I will do this one day too hopefully.
If I can find it and scan it, my buddy drew a pretty cool 4-door Jtruck.

Yes, the top is taller. That shouldnt be that HUGE of a deal.
Yes, a brow would be cool. That was my original plan when I bought the J20. I ended up passing on it though. Maybe the member that I was going to buy it from still has it..
AND, yes, I expect Art to chime in anytime now...

Nope, that brow is spoken for
Surprised Art hasn't chimed in yet.
And that crewcab he built was VERY NICE!
I really like the approach that he took with the doors, glass, etc.

Yep, that thing is nice...
The more I think about it, I might just find a doner Cherokee, and make more of a limo style Crewcab... That would make it A LOT eaiser and probably roomier..

Wouldnt it be easier to cut the back off of a wagoneer and seal it up rather then try and splice a truck cab and waggy together?

Check out the jeep shots part of the June 2008 issue of Jp magazine. There's a Wag/J20 combo from Wyoming like your talking about.
