i finaly have some great news!!!!!!

as the title says, i have some great news. my truck finally runs, (the j10 that i have been workin on for a while).

today at school i topped off the fluids, found some water leaks (from wresteling the head around)

so i fixed the hose that was leaking, cut about an inch off of the end, fill the water back up.

i crank it over for 5 secs, then another 5 secs, and on the thrid try right when i let the key it kicked. i was goin from this to

i cranked it over and didnt even touch the gas and it fired right up, idled perfectly. so i let it run for about 15 minutes, gave it a little gas and it was just purin, the WHOLE time....

i was driving it around the parkin lot, prolly tickin off all of the teachers, (there is no muffler). but i lost my power stearing some how, before i started the tear down i could turn it from lock to lock no effort, not it is like i am trying to park my 66 mustang at a crawl, and even when i was moving it was still hard to turn the wyheel....

im very very happy. tomorrow i am goin to drive it home, after i put a glasspack on there... it is a little too loud without it.

One of the cool things with shop class in high school was test driving with no muffers!

Had that in Peso once, and it turned out to be a well worn motor mount giving it the shakes. Congrat's on getting the rig up and running. Feels good don't it.

today was a GREAT DAY!!!!!

OR NOT

to start off with, i left my jeep over at a friends house last night. today after school i came home, and had my mommy take me to go and pick it up. starter did not want to engage. so about the third try it grabbed and fires up.

i drive it to work, putting the whole way, abut a 5 minute drive took me about 10.

then my lunch break came. i go to the local McParts stores to check on some headlights. i go to leave and i hit the starter, and it did the exact opposite it has been doin... can you guess?

yuppp. the bendix stuck engaged to the flywheel. i go back inside and ask for a hammer. didnt work, so about 50 bucks that i dont have later and im back on my marry way. i get back to work, (35 minutes late).

then after work, i noticed a little puddle of oil under her, and yes it was and is fresh oil. it was as clear as clear could be. didnt bother me too much, i popped the hood and it was only about a half quart low.

i call a buddy to see where he was at, and he was in town, so i figured i would go meet him at the car wash, i make it about half way there, and i had to slow down because of a car was turning. i gave it a little gas and it starts to miss then backfire.

i slide it into neutral and cost to a nearest parking lot. waited on him to show up, and decided to check timing. timing was dead on, but now it was starting to knock. we tow it out to his house, i fire it up to pull into the barn. i can feel something that felt like the piston hitting a vavle.

we pull the valve cover to find two of the rocker arms loose. we tightened them back up, slapped the valve cover back on and fire her up,

it sounded sweet... then we went for a test drive. and it did good,

but i stopped to check on something, i popped the hood and i see orange.

is the exhaust manifold supposed to get hot enough to glow?

holy crap dead thread... lol

the truck had no cat, it barely had a muffler. i no longer am driving this truck, i started to have too many issues for me at the time and ended up selling it to a co-worker. he is going to build either a 3/4 or 1ton build on it.

right after he puts a 383 stroker in a samurai

he said that he got it running, and there was a crack in the block on the back passenger side of #6.

but it was not bad enough to leak any coolant... but there was a little oil seepage... which i could never find exactly where it was when i owned it...

the first weekend he got it he took the axles out of his blazer to see what it would look like spring over on the front, but has to put the stock axles under it to get it out of the garage

That's too funny, after he gets it out let him know all he had to do was take the wheels off, drop the rig onto floor jacks and roll it out then put the wheels back on...
