Who makes the best u joints?
I took the Wag out of the shop today long enough to run to the store and back. On the way back I noticed a popping noise so being less than a mile from home I decided to check it out on concrete instead of the roadside. Needless to say about a 1/4 mile from the driveway the rear u joint snapped. This was the second time this has happened since replacing the tranny and all joints. Once for the front joint in the rear shaft and now the rear joint. I bought them at O'reillys which most likely answers part of my question but I do remember asking for the best they had. Is there any certain brand that everybody swears by?

I've only had one snap (pulling out a mesquite stump). I usually buy lifetime warranty, whatever the brand. free replacement. Oh, and BTW, keep the receipts (sic).

Spicer is considered the best for OEM. Since thats what they come with.
I have some Brute Force I think sealed ones but I've never had to change one yet to use em..
Since the ujoint is the engineered in weak point and you've blown two on a street rig, it may be indicative of a larger problem. Or a lead foot? You could drop some cash on some OX ones..they don't break.

Dana Spicer U-joints are the best. You can get greasable or nongreasable versions now. The triple lip seals on the nongreasable ones hold so well you have to put it in a vice to get the caps off. They cost more, but they are worth it. Your local Fleet Pride or other truck shop/offroad shop should have a good selelction. So do online stores.

I agree with Zack, make sure you don't get the service grade ones if you want the best. I did greasable, just personal preference.

I have saved my receipts in a old shoe box. Then one day I noticed that on most of them the ink has faded to the point you cant even read them. Now I make my own copies too.
As for U-joints I usually just get the ones that are a step up from the cheap ones. I like grease-able also

LOL That's what the guy at O'Reillys said this morning. The drivetrain and tires are the same as it was when I first built it almost 6 years ago. When I reinstalled the tranny I replaced all the u joints with supposely good ones and now they are snaping like twigs. Now as for the lead foot.....

Alloy USA makes a heavy duty stock replacement for around 34 bucks a piece. I hear they are great. I'm gonna get a set for myself and find out if they are worth the extra 10 bucks.

Don't forget hardened chromo shafts with CTMs. What's the point of making the shaft the weaklink?

Ttried and couldn't find a link last night when I posted it. For some reason the joints are not on the website.
A 1330 joint at 4WP is 54.99.
