Exclamation arg..angry rear window off track ?!!!!

ok look at the pics. clearly the problem is the guide being off track. i went over a great bump in the road and that is waht i think knocked it out. problem is getting it back in. it appears that the guide is bent back and to top it off it is spot welded or riveted in. the guide track itself appears to have rivets that are placed on the inner side of the track and only accessable with the tail gate down. go figure.

so....how do i get it back in track if i can not open the tailgate since the window is up and the window will only come down on the left side by 1/4 inch. any further of course would damage it more.

open to ideas....

thanks for looking

Can't tell very well in the picture but did the guide come loss from the glass? It looks like the track is normal but the guide is bent or coming off the glass. To get the track out you have to get the tail gate open and it has 2 screws holding it in. I know not much help. Maybe with a bit more info something will come to mind.

I cant tell jack from the pics, but...

But, I would say that you are actually in a better position since the window is up. Just unbolt the regulator, drop the glass, open the gate, put the regulator back in, fix whatever is broke, install glass, roll it down, and close the gate..

Seems easy enough, but thats probably only because I cant decipher anything from the pics...

Good luck!!

Working on the tail gate glass can be dificult if you only have 2 hands. Ask for help when trying to remove the glass.

Fun with rear glass!

OK, if it were me, I would get my battery operated impact driver (or screwdriver), 3/8 socket set and some 1x1 wood, no more than 3 foot, 2 lengths.

Fold up/remove back seat, clear all the junk you leave rolling around back there (or am I the only one that does that?). Take your screw removal tool and remove the carpet from the tailgate, if it's there. Then open up the access panel for the tailgate and reference other info here or in your manual about taking the regulator, etc... loose. I trim the wood piece and wedge them in so the glass doesn't drop on my fingers as the last bits are coming loose.

Should be able to drop the gate and fix it after that. Now stop jumping your rig until you upgrade the suspension with that 48" travel coil spring setup!

Good luck... it's not that difficult in reality.
