Where to start? 77 Chero
It's in pretty decent shape as it is, and now i've got it running pretty well. Where should I start with this? I'm in school mind you, but a good start towards this project is what I want. BJ's 4 in lift? Interior first?. . . I should also get on the rust growing up the rear fender flares. Whats the best temporary fix? I'll try and get some good interior shots. The headliner is comping apart and so is the carpet. . .

looks pretty good, everyone is gonna say it all depends upon what you want out of it, d/d wheeler only etc.
on mine i wanted a rig that can be driven to and from the trail not quite a full on d/d but definatley more d/d than a wheeler. I started out with a 3" body lift as my dad had made it for his years ago and had since scrapped the body and had the blocks left over(so it was free for me), then 33's
then i came accross someone parting out a waggy with skyjacker 4" lift and he made me a killer deal so that was good, i installed that and went to 36's and never looked back.
again it all depends upon your wants and the amount of money you have to get it to that point.
i personally think a 3" body lift is a good place to start, cheap easy to install by yourself and allows bigger tires.

i'd start by tearing out the headliner and carpet (that doesn't cost money!), then see if you still have floors. if all looks good there, go for the 4" lift. if your floors are rusted out id start there. check in the member section for a member that sells replacement floor pans.
as for stoping the rust, look in the tech library (top menu bar). there is a thread about keeping the rear flares from rusting away.

malodin - you know of a Pimley from Sumner? My buddies dad I think lives up that way. . .And I would like to be able to wheel, but like you said I still want it to be a driveable head turner. It will be clean and shiny (some of the time ) I like the looks of Chromanaters wagon. It can get dirty, but it shines right up! 3 inches does sound like a good start. Cheaper and still allows for some modifications.
Al - youre right that that part is free. But where do I go for new lining? I have already thought of rhino lining and everything, but alternatives?

like what was stated ^ i would get the rust under control. i used that brown rust stabilizer from eastwood. works pretty well. for the holes i had i just used fiberglass and slapped some of that inhibitor around the hole.

the name doesnt sound familiar.
everyone is right on the floorboards, you would hate to be hitting the brake and have your foot slip off and see gravel
im not sure but i would check bj's on the headliner, its either that or if you have room look for a newer parts rig that has decent interior, thats what i am gonna have to do soon

Well sounds good then. Carpet comes out first and I'll hope for the best. It's scary to think about!
