35s VS 327 thru D-44

Well guys she's back on the road, watch out! I ate my 65 D-44 after I put on the GM TBI, and 35s. It only takes an old truck, a lead foot, and several gool climbs. Well my question to you is how long do you think the 78 chero rear will live. I'v got 78 3/4 ton Chitcan axels on the way, and plan to work them. Just think VIGILANTE 327, T-98, D-20, 3/4T D-44, BFG 35 MTs, and dont forget SOA. OH YA, good stuff for a REDNECK poor boy backyard engineer.

The only 3/4 ton rated Dana44 axle is the Dana44HD found in the front of J20 and other similar 3/4 ton trucks.

AFAIK there are no 3/4 ton rated Dana44 rear axles.
If you are concerned about strength, step up to a Dana60 or GM Corp 14bolt.
Lots of folks say how cheap and plentiful that Corp 14bolts are, so you might want to look in that.

Oops my bad, I ment Corp axels. Jaber saw a truck in the yard next door and told me it would make a great donor. 78 chev 3/4 ton camper special, with factory lift springs, no eng trans or transfer. My landlord wants $400 for it, I think I can get it for $300. Dose anyone know if the springs can be used on a FSJ?

Well I took some measurements, and the springs arn't going to work, but the pearches are so close it's not funny. The spring width is the same, the Chev front is 1/2" narower per side, and rear is 1/4" narower per side than the Kaiser frame. I think I can find a way to float those numbers out. I'v already floated the 1" differance betwen the 65 rear and the 78 Chero rear that I'm runing now. After close inspection of the front spring perches on the frame I can mod them to fit just fine.
