Tech service manual

Not only am I new to Jeeps, newer with a Waggie, I'm also new to mechanics. Ask me to tear down a firearm, sure. Tear down a computer, no problem. Rebuild an engine?

Fortunately, if you read my intro, you'll recall I have 2 Waggies to play with. One is to restore, the other is a donor. My plan is to strip the hell out of the donor, store the parts for the better of the two and put the one of the 360s on a stand and play. Well, not play, but rebuild to put into the better waggie of the two after some performance upgrades have been made.

But I'm going to need some help. I'd fly some of you super mechanics to VA to help, but I blew all of play money on the rigs. So any place I can find some good reference material? I've tried Amazon, not luck. And in my experience with the YJ, Haines and Chiltons didn't quite cut it for a new guy like myself.

Suggestions?

What year Jeeps you have?

You can buy reprints from BJ's I believe. You get a discount there.

Or you can hunt them down on Ebay. That's where most of mine came from.

You most definitely need a TSM.

Welcome to the madness.. You are starting off with 2 waggies.. Nothing like jumpoing in and getting both feet wet. Soon you will be in over your head, it's a lovely view..

Tom Collins site "oljeep.com" has a number of references. It also has the 1976 and 1982 TSMs in digits that I sent him.

Thanks so much for your work with that '82 TSM. Just downloaded the whole thing. I couldn't get sections 3U or 3S however.

I bought a TSM from Bishko Books for my 1980 Cherokee. $70...but it was missing 5 pages out of the 1000 +. So, I called them and they called the printer and are sending me a new one. www.autobooksbishko.com

After I bought the TSM, I found the same one (made by Bishko) on another site for $55.00. But, I didn't save the site because I was upset I wasted $15...but I'll look for it again. Welcome to the madness. I, like you, can tear down a firearm and put it back blind folded...but don't ask me to change a spark plug . The TSM is MUCH better than Chiltons or Haynes. Well worth the money.

Well it seems you are familar with taking things apart, cleaning them, and putting them back together, replacing worn parts as you go. You'll do just fine. Don't get caught up in all the specifications, just make sure everything matches and assemble it correctly, and it will all come out in the wash.

What I'm specifically looking for are some performance upgrades to the 360. I want to upgrade this one in the right order as opposed to the YJ. There seems anything and everthing out there for the Chevy 350, but nothing for the 360.

There's a LOT for the AMC V8s. Do a search here or start out over at http://www.summitracing.com or http://www.jegs.com . Cams, intakes, distributors, water pumps, blah blah blah.....there's a lot!
