Another more newbie
Hello folks!
I have been lurkin around here for a while and I was thinkin that maybe I should introduced myself. I live in Finland, Northern Europe and I have had FSJ:s from late `80:s, wife likes those too and her first car was -73 Wagoneer. During the years we have had several FSJ:s, mostly Cherokees with 258/manual. Things go same here as I have read on you people there: buy one and you have to get another. Currently we have all original low mile -79 Cherokee 258/3spd/20 and 44:s which is waiting to get bodyshop in floor repair and -83 Cherokee 258/4spd which was converted to pickup. All mods were done in one weekend and you can see it. I was buying it as a parts, but then I found rust free J20 cab from Sweden and now we are makin it look more J-truck. I have found lots of good information on this site, and I have noticed how nice and helpfull peoples here are. Oh yeah the pictures, I know you like to see them, sorry but at this moment I dont have any on computer and Im afraid I cant get taken any before spring when I can get trucks out from barn.

Welcome from New York, Jarkko! FSJ's must have sold pretty well in northern Europe because I see them pretty often in pictures and videos of people driving offroad there. Do you find many of the surplus J-trucks that were used by the Swedish military? I remember there was an auction with hundreds of them not too long ago. Anyways I look forward to seeing your Cherokee projects when springtime comes for you.

Welcome from Texas, Jarkko. You do have some relatively nearby company, Frank in Norway, here's his website.

He usually frequents these forums so might chime in soon.

Thank you guys!
I have read my homework with pics . I try to get pics on that pickup or may I say hackup ASAP. It may be educational to see what happens, if there has not been any J-trucks for sale and somebody have to had one. I tried to speak over the guy who started that conversion not to do it, but it was more like . He says it was too ugly as it was, because it was converted to 9 passenger model by Finnish importer. I have to admit that it was not pretty one with the 4" roof extension, but i knew it was not going to look better after cuttingwheel. But good to me he got all mods marked on title, so now i can save what is worth to save. My first plan was to made flatbed on it, because the frame is shorter than on J10:s, but supricingly theres lot of work to do before bed.
I have read on diesel conversions that members has made, and maybe someone is interested to know, that our importer throwed in 4 cyl Valmet engines (yeah, Finnish tractor engines) couple years at end of -70:s.
That is low rpm very heavy unit, and I been told that top speed was about 60mph with much of noise. Other popular engine conversion here was Iveco 6cyl, which was more powerfull and better rpm-scale for end ratios. Personally I have not driven either one.
Dan, I have seen couple complete J-20:s for sale in Sweden, low mileage, inside stored, almost rust free priced around 3000-5000$. Formerly they didnt sell any military vehicles complete, parts only (as far as i know). I have seen that there are some members from Sweden, maybe they know better? I didndt know they have so many of those trucks. In Finland we have lots of Cherokees and Wagoneers because government used them on army, border control and UN-operations, and they were also used by telephone and railroad companies too (I think later ones had some of those Valmet conversions), and Forest Schools used those 9passenger models. Dont know why, but far as i know there is only 3 officially imported J20:s here.
Lindel, I have visit on Franks site, he has fine trucks and great stories there too!

Thanks!
I think I dont want to get any better with this sicknes. Actually last evening I was going to make an offer from rusty -76 Waggy with 360/t18/d20, but the old lady stopped me by asking what you gonna do with it? I couldnt say her that I planning to buy it for parts to some future project that I dont even have yet..(for example small backwindow thriftside short bed).
Heavyhauler, we have had couple quite warm winters here. Usually we have at midwinter -10*c to -30*c, now only 0 to -15*c, we havent had much of snow either, this time only 1/2". It seems that Flint has much more in CO.
Was there somewhere that point your location at map site, think I have seen it ?
