Matt,

Got any pics? (I am too lazy to search for your past posts)... Sorry I misread

Gallery at: http://s247.photobucket.com/albums/g...Picture014.jpg

We will have to get together sometime and go snow bashing. With you Colin and myself, that is three FSJ's in Fort Collins on '38s... YEEEEHAAA

Where you at in Fort Collins? If I were to guess I would say on the north side of Laporte Ave? I live by city park golf course.

I have a question...how do I get my pics in the post instead of just a link?

Looks sweet!

Just curious - have you mocked up or started building a front driveshaft yet? I've heard all the horror stories of how a 727 pan & D300 front output don't like each other, was wondering how it faired for you.

We put a 727 in the CJ and it is close to the pan but it works. The driveshaft is a thickwall 2" and there wasn't enough room to run a 3" 1350 driveshaft or a deep tranny pan.

might want to hit the enter key between the pix. makes it a bit easier to read the posts.

what did you use to bend that tube?
it might be ok w/ the extra plate on there but i would still be worried about the strength of it in a hard hit.

Ya the bends were my least favorite part, i used a hf poopkinker, but I don't have the money right now to buy a jd2, I'm sure that with all the plate it's probably twice as strong as the stock crossmember, that and it will be bolted to the framerails which should make it hard to bend up if I'm high centered or down from the weight of the drivetrain.

As for clearence of the tf727, it will be close but i put a front driveshaft upthere and it looks like I should be ok, I have SOA and chevy full width d44, but I might have to limit uptravel with a bumpstop if my driveshaft gets too close to the tranny pan.

Got any shots with the front driveshaft on? I'm still running into clearance issues with my 300 swap. My drive shaft hits the exhaust now. I did a 2 into one, left into right running along side the pass. side frame rail.

I like the crossmember, did you use the HF bender?

Yes HF bender, I like to refer to it as a poop kinker. if i did it again id save the money for a jd2 or protools, even though their 4x as much and dies are like a hundred somethin a peice...when the money starts flowin i'll get one.

No shots of front driveshaft yet, I could order custom shafts...but I'm a college student and broke, so I spent a couple hours at a local salvage yard in the snow looking for a 24" front shaft, and 48" rear. well, I found nothing. so...

I will use some shafts I have layin around, I think their both from a chebby truck, as it turns out if I flip my front springs around I'll gain 1-2" exactly what I need to use the shaft I have. Also if I flip the rear I will gain ~6" exactly what I need to use the chevy rear shaft! but it'll suck flippin all the leaf springs around. My final wheelbase will be about 114".

Sleeves??? are you talkin about the bolts which bolt to the frame? if so no...the stock x-member didn't have any sleeves.

or are you talkin the mount to the tranny, this is what I came up with...

the red is rubber body mount, I ordered a 24" stick from 4wheeldrive hardware, I'll just cut the lengths I need when it gets here.

or are you looking at the spacers between the plate and the washers, because I just cut those and put them in there to hold up the plate where I wanted it so I could make the gussets and tac it all together in the right place.

thanks, I feel complimented someone wants to use my design...the side mounts are 1/4 inch, im sure you could use 3/16 too, I cut one side off the old x-member to use as a drill template...worked good. the tube is hrew 1.5" .125 wall (1/8"). and the skid is just 11 gauge plate (1/8"). As for the tranny mount, I just used more 1/4" plate(again 3/16 would be plenty beef). also if you use the right die and roller space the tube will kink less. As you can see in the photo's one side kinked more...I don't know the setting off the top of my head. I'll take a picture and let you know later today.
