Pulleys for AMC 327 w/pics
Want to install power steering pump and A/C compressor to the AMC 327.
Bought the Eaton Pump from Tad and trying to figure out what groove pulleys are needed on each accessory?
J & W gave me a really high quote for everything. Seemed high to me.
Guess it would be worth getting swap completed.
JpJeeper (on this forum) has entire AMC 327 engine, including 4bl, but his motor doesn't have power steering. See his pictures in For Sale Thread, as I don't know how to move over.
If I knew what pulley's were needed everywhere and could find them, it would be win-win for both of us.
Anyone got diagram?
How hard is it to find pulleys for the ancient motors?

Big thank to everyone
I knew building an old 4x4 truck would be a challenge. In the short time I've owned the Gladiator and attended one meet, I feel like part of the long time family here.
Restoring or maintaining a FSJ is so much harder than a CJ. They are way more complicated mechanically, have more features to go wrong, and neglected from easily obtainable parts and repair information. I'm sure anyone that's been a FSJer and on here long has figured this out but to a newbie like me, it just hit me.
Without this forum all our FSJ would become extinct.
It would be easier for me to just order the turn key package part deal from J&W, but it's the helping each other out is what makes this forum live.
I don't like computers (they do find parts) and built my Scrambler starting in 1998 from reading magazines since I was 12 years old. My wife found Hammer's Froadin site at work one day and used it to do oiling mods on 401.
Thanks again for your support as I become a seasoned FSJer.

Somewhere I have pix of the 67 Wag we parted when the front clip was removed... It had a PS pump that Gambler68 now has. Will see if I can find the pix at home tonight.

PS & A/C both
Power steering and air conditioning were probably rare options in late 60's. Heater was an option on Glad truck but probably popular one. People must of been tough back then.

Red,
If you look close... The crank pulley is a three grove...
All you need is the ps pump and pulley...

Which pics is 3 pulley crank
Which picture has the 3 groove crank pulley?
Wonder which groove water pump pulley and how many grooves on PS & A/C.
Service manual would hopefully show all this.
Who all has 327's that might know?
I bought one but seller wanted check didn't take pay-pal, so its going to be Christmas before I get manual.

IIRC there are only two vees on the crank pulley. One belts to the water pump/fan pulley and alternator pulley. The other in mine belts to the PS pump, but originally also belted the AIR pump that I removed that sat on a bracket over the front end of the intake manifold. IIRC the AIR pump bracket fitted with bolts to bosses on the coolant crosspipe that feeds the heads. Your AC compressor could perhaps be fitted there.

I can look in my factory TSM.
*Drawing* of hyd. steering pump shows single groove pulley.
Fig. o1-28, page 471 in my 77 reprint book SM-1042
just for kicks, they have a PIC of a 6 cyl one with 2 grooves on the pulley pump, inner one is slightly smaller. But a 327 one should be a single pulley
you should be happy once you get the manual. Explains lots of things no one else can.
I don't see it happening this weekend, beacuse there is a metric ton of crap piled on it and my tool boxes are in front of it, but I can look at the spare 327 I have pulled and hidden in my crackershack garage and see if it has PS and what the crank pulley is.

no pix... one in a snow storm that shows straight on picture through the open grille, but very fuzzy. Yeah Ryan, I think it's still on the motor buried in the corner there.

Ouray in July
Wow, with everyone's help, looks like I may find parts and make the mid July meet. I learned long ago you have to have a Goal or vehicle will never get completed. I did however drag Scrambler on and on as I told my wife that would be our wedding limo and honeymoon in Moab. What a test for marriage. Guess that's why it ended up so nice, I was stalling.
Dr. Locke check out those pics of JpJeepers and you'll notice the York A/C is mounted directly above the water pump. The pics I posted show the smog pump thingy above the Eaton PS Pump.
Gambler, thanks for looking in the TSM, It didn't have diagram of all accessories mounted?
Guess it was really rare to have fully optioned vehicle back then. Probably only Super Wag had it all.

I went out last night and checked...
The crank pulley on the amc327 is a three groove...
The (one groove) ac compressor is lined up with the front groove... alternator is middle groove... and rear groove is blank...

getting closer?
That is great to know you've got a 3 groove on the motor!
I see that your water pump pulley is single groove.
I'm still lost without a pulley diagram.

Fuel Injection
The V-8 was available with and optional Bendix electronic fuel injection system. Due to production problems no Rebels were sold with the fuel injection but the next year a more powerful V-8 with 270 horsepower at 4700 rpm and a higher 9.7:1 compression ration was offered.
Got this from Flint's. Bet a limited production run of Bendix FI would be a fun one to find parts.
I'm gonna stick with just finding correct pulley's and forget I ever heard of a factory FI AMC 327.
That motor shot shows the alternator fan belt laying on right fender well.
