I'm sure you can get slashes from time to time, I don't see why I vandal would have stopped there. My guess is that if its one one tire, why didn't they make sure it went completely through the side wall?

IIRC Stuka has put a Manzanita branch through one, I managed a tent stake way back when. It's a good resaon to pay the extra for cert's if those are available.

THe OEM tires on my fathers Heep Liberty CRD got a 3" gash in them while driving down a dirt road. He changed them all out to an offroad specific tire with thicker sidewalss and has had no further problems. Are you running passenger tires on your rig and driving offroad?

looks like you have some other rash on the sidewalls from objects scraping them. there is probably a good chance some knucklehead put some rocks in the mud pit either trying to get unstuck or a tree hugger trying to stop 4wds threw something in there.

buy some off road tires with thicker sidewall protection.

Front and rear tires in about 5 seconds of each other:

Was done by a tiny manzanita stump that had been cut at a sharp angle. Went right through the sidewalls of both pass side tires.

Yours do look like knife cuts, or some very sharp rock.
