I was lucky enough to have a korean troop working with me.

I'd call it a descendant. They're pretty cool. Ignore the fact that Kia makes crappy little cars. Kia also has a HUGE industrial/military division. Some of their stuff is pretty tough.

the South Koreans also build an indigenous version of the M35. and apart from the commando-looking grille, the pictured truck is still VERY M715 the door is 100 percent, and most of the tub is too. a 715 with a funky grille and a diesel swap.
which could lead to a debate i read a few times in various military vehicle magazines that the previous plan of light (1/4 ton) medium (1-1/4 ton) and heavy (2-1/2 ton and up) trucks was much more effective than trying to make the HMMWV do everything. in fact, from what i read the end of the HMMWV's has already been accelereated by 5 or 10 years due to our experiences in the middle east. (sorry, that was kinda OT - but maybe if we are lucky we -the armed forces- can buy modified 715's and M35's from Korea?)
peace
Dave

Didn't they used to run daihatsus over there also? Didn't make it in america because thier price point was twice that of the competitors but i used to own a daihatsu rocky and that was one of the toughest vehicles i ever owned. I went wheeling with it alot and did things i knew i never should of tried but it kept going. Only reason i got rid of it is because a locker for the rear was $1400 and i couldn't get a lift for it.

Shoot I can not get a lift for the ARO but that wont stop me from making one and maybe getting on the scary steering page. I just want to put the wag axles under it and fit the 33s. Also considering the front is IFS but not for long.
$1400 for a locker? Blah $5 worth of wire in the mig and problem solved.
