Mixing and matching

Can anyone tell me on what other vehicles I may find springs that will fit my 72 J4000? I think this will broaden my search for a used set of 3"+ springs. I flipped the shackles in the rear and need something to level the front with the back. Thanks.

Scout II's, but you will need to use the Jeep main leaf.
No others that I know of.

Your best bet is new 4" front springs from Hell Creek.

Part II

Appears my front springs are 2" wide. Anyone ever put 2.5" on the front of a J truck, or a rig with 2" original springs? Seems like wider shackle and new U-bolts would do it. What is the length of the rear post mount bolt? Will the 2.5" fit with room for the nut?

Front post is not long enough for 2.5" wide springs I do not think, but yes, I changed mine over to the newer style mounts (and axle).

Did you make your own front shackle and rear post?

No, I had a member here cut the front hangers off a J20 and used stock 2.5" wide FSJ springs from a Chero along with a secondary main spring for my J2000.
A lot of this will not apply to you unless you are looking to upgrade axles but the concept is the same.

Since I need to move front hangers again on another FSJ I made some of these...

...I really made them out of necessity since removing hangers intact is a PITA, lots of companys make spring hangers.

I need to add I do not think there is anything wrong with going with the HellCreek springs, they are a good product by a reputable company that has worked hard to fill our needs.
It's just not what I was looking for at the time.

I'm going with Hell Creek. $140 each side with rubber bushings. Might as well get what I need to make it right. Used springs can have sag on one or both sides and I would hate to modify it and brake something on the trail. Now for tires/wheels, ugh $.
