Exclamation FSJ Saves another life

Yesterday May 28, at around 11:50am my mother was driving home our 75 Cherokee S, NT. It seems that a tire either blew or the tread separated causing her to lose control and rolled the jeep several times, she was going anywhere between 60 and 75mph.

She is alive and talking. She suffered 6 broken ribs and a punctured lung. She called me this morning to say that she was doing ok and that she should be out this friday. And to ask if I have gone to see the Jeep. But from what i saw at the crash site, there isnt much left. All windows came off (we have tinted windows), windshield came off on one piece, and some stuff from the inside of the jeep, like the rear ashtrays were found intact on the side of the road.

I will post some pictures of the carnage, i want to see how the old jeep held up, and to see if anything is salvageable. If anything I will try to get the engine out its a 401, and leave the rest.

Wow, scary. These things seem to have a good record in protecting occupants during high speed rollovers, too bad the tallish and narrow stance causes them to tip like most other taller suvs, W/Ts rigs have a little more safeguard against flipping. What tires were on it? Glad your mom is ok and safe, I hope she recovers fine, and I hope you at least get the 401 from the Chero, and maybe insurance coverage to get another one.

Glad she is okay.

I am suprised the windshild came out in 1 piece. It is supposed to help support the roof in the case of a roll over (not pop out)

Yeah, these jeeps seem to be pretty good when it comes to accidents. Reminds me that I need to make sure my cargo is secured.

Really Really glad she is okay.

Sorry to hear that you lost the FSJ but knowing that it gave its life to save a loved one's a good trade off by my book.

Good to hear your mom will be OK.

Jeeps are replaceable, people are not. But definetly save that 401.

Glad your mom is okay, thats whats most important. Sorry to hear about the fsj, but it did what it had to do to keep her safe. Looking forward to the pics and a speedy recovery for your mom. Good luck salvaging whatever you can from the jeep.

Thank you everyone for the support, wishes and prayers. As for the Jeep I havent been to the yard where its at. Im really hoping the engine is in one piece, if it is I will try and get into the 83 Wag that we have back home in elpaso.

As for details on the crash, she was southbound on I-25 between Albuquerque and Socorro. Specifially a bit north of San Acacia and south of Belen. The tires the jeep has on were BFG Mud TAs 31x10.50/15 on factory mag alloy rims. It was the Cherokee "S" model Narrow trac and 2 door. Yellow and white top. Ill keep anyone posting any news that develops, and hopfully some pics since i too want to know how well it held up.

Thanks again for all the support.

If you need a place to store I am in Mountainair with 80 acres. Funny we didn't hear anything on the local news, of course our absentee Gov is much more news worthy
