Simple. I have an insane need to tinker with worthless hunks of rust. Actualy, it's something my buddy found for me. 1963 J200 shortbed. going to get it up and running and use it as a hual stuff, go camping, tow small stuff backup rig. It will be a fun project. My friend Brian is career army, will be back home for two week's and that's my window. He need to be there to get the rig on a truck (his wife cannot help) Tried to do this last fall, had no luck. We'll see what happens this time.

Today makes it 1 week and one day the rig has been listed with the broker. I have heard nothing. Previously had it on Uship for a while. Nothing, re-listed it with Uship today..
How much can I expect to pay? Olympia Wa. to Montclair NJ.?

Expect to pay between $600-$800 to get it cross country. Just be careful on Uship, some people don't have insurance and are not registered thru the DOT so if something happens you could end up in trouble or out of a rig.

Truck doesn't run. Will be higher than that. Right now broker has it listed for 1000. Seems low. I'm thinking this becuase I'm not hearing anything.
Updates tommorow.

Don't wait for them! Get on the horn with a transporter directly.
Posting on U-Ship is like shooting an arrow blindfolded. You'll never know if you get a lead, nor where it is.
At least call a reputable one up, preferably an interstate one.
If you really want it bad enough and time is not on your side, then you may have to resort to what I did.
1 ton truck+trailer=roadtrip.

It's listed with a car transporter/broker. Uship listing was just to see what happens. I don't think the current broker is working this at all. Will talk to him on thursday. Anyone know of a reliable transporter (aside from DAS, their qoute was $2700)? This is going to happen one way or the other. I've got a decent budget. Time will tell.

See if you can find someone local to tow it to a storage place or find a member here to keep it for a few months. Nothing worse than being under the gun to ship a truck. Tow should be about $60-$80 and storage outside $50-$80 per month. This might buy you some time for an independent to carry it. If it will not run, I think it really jacks the price up with DAS and other big carriers. I just shipped a MC to WA from VA $650.00 is what it cost the new owner. Just an idea? Good Luck!

That is plan B.............Always have a backup. If nothing happens by the 14th then plan B goes into effect. When I tried this last fall I had no storage, that has since been solved. BTW, commercial storage yards won't store non op vehicles outside, at least the ones I talked to out there.

Why would most people want to store a running vehicule outside? Seems like that is what storage should be about. I guess a running vehicule looks better than a parts car. Glad there is a plan B, now what about plan C? D? E? ....

This was commercial storage joints. RV parking, storage buildings etc....I have know idea why? Maybe they wanted to make sure they had a large profit if you stopped paying storage.
Plane C,D,E don't exist. Plane is get truck back here and start fixin'. It will not end up as nice as your's. But it will end up solid, bulletproof drive train and good paint. The storage I have as backup is a heavy truck repair shop/welding joint just off Trosper Rd where it links up w/I5. Good access for big trucks, someone is there during buisness hours and they are willing to work with me, for $ of course.

If you can't store it outside, then can't you rent a ministorage space, maybe 12 x 24 to park it in? Also, most ministorages have outside RV/Boat parking adn I do see the ocasional project car out in one.
For $2700, I would think again about fetching it yourself if you have the means.

Storage issue is solved, if it comes down to that. Trying to hook up with a reliable transporter without being taken to the cleaners can be a bear. I figured I would post up just to vent frustrations and illustrate the problems that can be encountered.

Today nothing happened....again. Spoke w/the broker this morning. His feeling was that the holiday threw a spanner in the works for everyone. His feeling was that the load is paying good money and to let it ride another day or two. If nothing happens at that point it might be time to up the price a little. Tommorow is another day.

Today I spoke with the broker again. We adjusted the amount of money being paid to the truck upward by a couple of hundred. I don't know if this guy is actively pursueing this. Hope something happens over the weekend.
Enjoy

Today I got a call from the broker, good news. A truck will be picking up the J200 on wednesday or thursday. WooHoo........... this takes a big load off. I guess my decision to throw some more money at it paid off, or maybe not. Anyhow, I got a comitment to pick it up. There is always the outside chance that this whole thing could fall through, so now I have to call up my fall back position and inform them of the progress. Looking forward to having this part behind me. After this comes the hard part.
Fixin it.........everything needs extensive help. Doors have fitment issues and the windows need new regulators, tracks and rubber. Windshield has milk, who knows what kind of rust is under it. The interior is non-existent.
The only electrical is a start/charge circuit. Brakes are good, but no e-brake. The drive train will need to be replaced. Currently I have a Buick 350/Th400 and a Dana 20 with no adaptor. These will all need to be gone through, I bought them as cores ( although the people I bought them from swore the ran good) Paid core prices.
Thats it for today, updates if anything changes. PS - To all the members w/their offers of help. Thank you...you guys are the best.
