Not real suprising, I think the guy knew his stuff, but was not very good in the delivery or customer service department. I think he tried hard but over promised and under delivered from all the theads posted about him though the years.

Not surprised. That guy sold his kits and then left people high and dry, taking FOREVER to "re-burn" their chips for them. He had good tech info on his site, however. But that's about it and doesn't make up for broken promises and basically scamming people out of their money.

I'm not surprised either. I think John is basically a good, smart, and well-intentioned guy with terrible organizational skills and a bad case of excuse-itis.

Too bad, Too bad....
I have one of his systems on my truck - runs really nice.
A company like Edelbrock or Howell should hire him for his expertise - he knows fuel injection inside and out but had no business sense.

Funny that this came up. He's still in business although how I don't know. Unfortunately I purchased my kit 2 years ago when his reputation was still good. I just heard from him tonight after waiting for over a month from his last email where he claimed he was working on my wiring harness. This is to fix the first one he built for me over 2 years ago that has never been right. We have been emailing back and forth all of this time and all I have to show for it is a system that runs poorly and an empty wallet. I threatened to take him to court and he finally replied. Of course the exuse this time was he was out of town working on a new system. Yeah right! He was gone for a month and he never checked his email? This guy is a total BS artist. If he has your money get it back asap- He'll probably never deliver and if he does just hope theres no problems or you'll be stuck like me. Take my advise folks and stay far away.

All I can say is the guy is a total loser.
He promises the world, and only comes back with excuses, never delivers.
My experience with him was less than pleasant.
Spoke with him, got a delivery date.
Sent him payment, then all the excuses came, one after the other.
(When he bothered to even reply to emails...wouldn't answer his phone.)
Always had some excuse to give, but nothing more.
Luckily I paid with a credit card, because 2 disputes via PayPal were useless.
Get this, the LOSER lied to PayPal TWICE!
Both times he convinced PayPal that he sold me software, and they closed the dispute(s).
So I called my cc company, and opened a dispute with them.
They sorted everything out, and returned my money.
Do a search on here, this guy is amazing sometimes taking over a year to deliver.
Can't believe some of the crap he's pulled, and the patience of some people.
Amazing he is even still in business.
I even received emails from a couple of his customers that were waiting for systems asking if I had heard from him.

the DYI TBI world has changed greatly in the last couple of years.
You wil most likely be able to build your own system faster and for less $$.
There are a few "Junkyard TBI" sites out there in Google-land.
Funny thing, I have one of CustomEFIs systems on my Wag
