shift points

hi just installed a tach and wanted to verify that my shift points are correct. When i have it floored it shifts out of 1st at 4000 rpm does this sound about right ? also what is thee safe redline on these engines?

The shiftpoints are adjustable IIRC(vacuum screw on the tranny). Mine likes to shift into 2nd at about 15, into 3rd at about 25 if I drive light footed, if I REALLY romp on it it'll ride 1st till about 35, 2nd till 55...I'm assuming you have a TH400 as per your sig.

4000 is about where mine shifts. A lot depends on gearing I would imagine. Redline I have read is well above 4000, but I suspect these motors are cammed to make all their power down low.
