My next JEEP (road trip ) YES!
Really looking forward to this one! Found this on craigslist, bent over backwards to scrounge the cash, worked out all the arrangements, and by this time next weekend I should be somewhere in the Rockies driving one REALLY nice Wag! Does it get any better than that? Actually, just wish me luck. I can't wait !
1986 Jeep Grand Wagoneer - Limited
General: The last year for the AMC manufactured Grand Wagoneer. This GW, unlike newer Grand Wagoneers made by Chrysler, it has the strongest front axle put in a GW combined with the last year of the part-time transfercase, an excellent factory combination. I’m the 2nd owner and have maintained this vehicle obsessively the past 8 years with receipts to show for it. (108k miles)
Engine: totally re-built balanced AMC360c.i. w/ 10:1 pistons, CompCam 260h RV cam, 2.02 S.S. valves, Cloyes timing chain set, Carter fuel pump, Melling oil pump. (approx. 10K miles on a $4,200 engine.)
Manifold/Carb.: Edelbrock Performer #3731/Edelebrock Thunder Series #1826 w/ K&N air cleaner/filter.
Ignition: MSD Dist./8.5 mm wires/Coil/6AL
Exhaust: 3” mandrel system w/ MagnaFlow
Suspension: Rancho 4” Lift Kit
Tires/Rims: TrXus 33x12.5R15 m/t’s on 8x15’s
Exterior: Dark Blue
Interior: new saddle tan seats/headliner/visors
Drive Train: 727TF a/t w/ trans. cooler/alum. Hughes pan, NP228 p/t t/c
Front Axle: Dana 44 w/ Open Diff., & adj. trackbar.
Rear Axle: AMC Model 20 Semi-Floating axle w/ Open Diff., upgraded/lengthened driveshafts
Options: A/C, keyless entry, elec. windows/door locks, tilt steering wheel, factory tow package, aux. 21 gal. gas tank/skid plate, tinted windows, Optima Battery.

someone need to put the old crackpipe DOWN
87 was the last amc year
they were all still made the SAME way, in the SAME plants after Chrysler took over ( with very minor changes, like rear wiper, overhead console) but the drive line was the same :AMC 360, Dana 44s front and rear, NP 229
However, congrats on your purchase

ROAD TRIP
I was reading through the replies to Jon Barstows upcoming road trip to Oregon, and while I'm not a stranger to road trips, I am kinda wondering about possible contacts along the way in case I should need any FSJ expertise or an emergency place to bring the Wag to do any unexpected repairs, should the need arise. So I guess I'm asking if anyone here would mind offering up their place or assitance on short notice if the unforseen happens? I'll be snaking my way up from Phoenix thru Denver, up to Wyoming then east over towards Rapid City& I-90, then east towards home. No rush,I planned to take the whole week of 4-20 thru 4-20 to do it.

Looks good I like the look of the blank tailgate and the final ed grille with the old school woodgrain. Do I see dual tanks or just dual fills? Good luck.

That is one SWEET looking wag!Looks like it needs nothing! If you're going thru Rapid city,John Wayne Jeep 2 has some parts of mine,I was wondering if maybe you could pick them up,and take them home, then I could come get them.I need to go to Milwaukee to drop off some VW engines,at MOFOCO.
