TRUCK HIT!

Well, I got a call last night from my neighbor that somebody hit my 83 J10 and took off! I got home looked at my truck and could not tell what happened (it was dark). Turned out that the car (Ford Escort) that hit me was a few houses down the street and was undrivable. Turns out, he ripped my tailpipe off and sideswiped my truck. It was kinda hard to tell due to the condition of my truck. The car that hit me, shredded BOTH driver side tires, ripped his driver side from wheel, knocked his mirror off and shatered his driver side window! So I guess he is going to get me a new exhaust system and that is about it! Too bad that the parts for the exhaust systems are so hard to get if you can get them at all!

Ahh yes, the joys of owning a real metal vehicle...not noticing when a plastic car hits it

so technically he only half hit and ran.
meaning he left half his car under yours.

if one of my neighbors did that, they'd have a 33x13.50 parked on their hood(with rest of jeep attached) until said exhaust was paid for

what, the rust falling off did't crush them on the spot ?

Earl you need more lift so those pesky cars don't bother you.

Well, I mean he must have messed up the panels on the side of your truck. They would have been fine before the accident right? Mint condition? Just finished restoring that side of the truck and getting ready to do the other sides?

You have to love it when something like that happens though. Someone hits you and their car is completely screwed. Beautiful!

I think his car got tetnus from all teh rust on my J10 and it died!

I wonder what would have happened if I would had had my super swampers on it instead of my cheesy bald street tires?

Too bad he hit the passenger side, I do have some rear damage on the driver side, but that is from why wheel falling off as I was going down the road!

Yea, I have a MINT 1983 J10, only 3 made and it only had 17 miles on it! I wish!

Well according to the sellers on ebay, they're all rare and priceless, even the rusty ones. Cha-ching!

(Glad you found out who did it, BTW)

Make the person pay for the replacement parts AND the labor to install. Have the best exhaust place in town replace yours. <g>

I'm suffering mental stress just from reading this. A $10,000 gift card from BJ's should make it go away.

What can't be bought can probably be bent to fit.

comparison

a local muffler shop did my whole exhaust from stem to stern (delete cat). magnaflow turbo muffler 2"1/2" aluminized pipe for $400. and he had to drill out a couple of incredably rusted flange bolts too.

hope this works out for you.

Heck, ya might want to check the exhaust manifold, could've bent it and those are rare, so you might need to replace both with some HEADERS
