fuel pump for Carberated 360

I beleive my cam for the mechanical fuel pump is gone. no fuel at idle ( feed fuel to the bowl through charcoal can vent for test). gradually builds pressure with increased speed. Changed sendin unit . took off in tank screen, put in off of tank clear filter, changed by carb fuel filter, and changed mechanical fuel pump. No differance. So I am going to assume that my pump cam maybe shot.
Rather than tear the motor down that is running well with 40,00 miles on it. I would like to put on a fuel pump & regulator. or a will a regular fuel pump work with the retun line that comes off the filter next to the carb. Please help.

I had the same issue. I put in an electric without a regulator. I made sure that the pump was rated at about 5-7psi and put a filter between the tank and the pump and then the rest of the plumbing stayed the same. I bought the $30 pump from auto zone. You may want to carry a spare.

Holley "Red Top" electric. I'm a user, as are many others. No regulator required and works with the stock filter and return line. Kind of spendy, but for me it was well worth it. You will have to add a filter between the tank and pump that's not included in the box. I also spent the cash on the electric fuel pump relay kit from http://www.painlesswiring.com/ .

I wouldn't think a regulator would be a big issue with a return line, unless you got some super high volume thing.

i think a check valve in the fuel pump is stuck open, the cams on these are big,and it's unlikely it's bad, you'd certainly hear it if it was.
